Re: Wheel/Tire Fitment Pictures & Info
Can someone with a stock height SWB 1/2ton 2WD take some fender to ground measurments for me, po of my truck said it is a 2/4 drop, but seems to be a bit lower, more like 3/5.
|
Re: Wheel/Tire Fitment Pictures & Info
Anyone?
|
Re: Wheel/Tire Fitment Pictures & Info
Wheel to ground is not a accurate measurement. Wheel and tire sizes will vary that measurement.
I have the rear drop measurement from a few guys with ECE 6" and they have between 2.5" to 3" between the axel and frame. |
Re: Wheel/Tire Fitment Pictures & Info
Wheels are 15x8 and tires are 275/60 on all four corners. Drop is Early Classic 3.5" front and 6" rear.

Re: Wheel/Tire Fitment Pictures & Info
I will confirm that the rim width is the issue. I have 7" van rallys up front and they have never hit the controll arm. That 1" must be the clearance needed.
My front drop is 2.5 spindle and a 1" coil. |

I love the back view. How much land you got? You could hide a few parts trucks back in those trees as well. Nice shop too. |

Re: Wheel/Tire Fitment Pictures & Info
I have a 72 longhorn C30. I just ordered 18X9 rims. The truck is stock height. I could use some help in picking the right tire size. Thanks

Re: Wheel/Tire Fitment Pictures & Info
see ten - are your inner fenders out of that truck? I'm running a 2.5" front drop and it looks like my tires will hit the inner fenders if I go over a bump. I noticed that you said you had some rubbing when cutting corners, and didn't see any comments on the inner fenders, so I thought I'd ask.
|
Re: Wheel/Tire Fitment Pictures & Info
I will chip in and answer your question. I am running 2.5 spindle and 1" coil. 255/60's on the 7" van rallys. NEVER has it rubbed in the last 4000 miles. I am sure both of our trucks have inner fenders.
Only diffirence is he is using 8" rallys and 275/60 up front. What rim size do you have ? |
Re: Wheel/Tire Fitment Pictures & Info
I'm running 235/75/15 on 8" rally's today, but want to put some 255/60/17 on the truck. The 17" will have more backspacing, probably 5". Just looking at my current 27.5" setup, I've only got 3-4" between the tire and the inner fender. I just thought our suspension moved that much when going over bumps in the road.
I don't want to goof up my powder coated chassis!! Thanks for the input. |

Truck Has 3" drop spindles with 2 in drop springs. Rear has a 4" drop spring with a 2" spacer. Better pics at www.classictruckworld.tenmagazines.com Go to gallerys,then1968, mine is the BCHN-68 gallery. |

Re: Wheel/Tire Fitment Pictures & Info
Kudos to Radman - the look you have achived is great - can you tell me what backspace you used for the front/back - thanks in advance :hm:
|
Re: Wheel/Tire Fitment Pictures & Info
The rims and the cowl inducton hood were the first things i bought to start this project. The rims are american racings standard back spacing. It's been awhile but it is in the neigborhood of 4 or 4 1/4" back space frt and rear. What ever standard is from the company. the fronts should actually have about an extra 1/2" of back space as the tire just barely touches the inner wheel well on a hard bump. I have a frt.sway bar from a 86 suburban mounted up frt and the truck corners great.
thx for the great comments! ttyl Rick |

I just read this thread . . ..... some good info to use before spending your hard earned $$.....
215/70-15 on 15x6.5" van ralleys w/a 2.5" spindle & 2.5" spring (cut stockers) on the front & 255/70-15 on 15x8" truck ralleys w/ air bags, 1.5" lowering blocks, adj panhard bar & relocated stock shock mounts out back. Rubs up front on the top of the inner fenderwells on big dips/bumps in the road @ speed . . .... never a problem @ any other time. |
Re: Wheel/Tire Fitment Pictures & Info

20x8.5" Coys Rodder 5 wheels w/ 5" Backspacing (too much for the rear) 255/35 Falken tires. second pic is same drop with 255-70s on 8" truck rallys |
Re: Wheel/Tire Fitment Pictures & Info
Bagged74: love the look of the ralleys over the billet jobs and rubber band tires. Sorry, I'm old school and love BIG rubber.
Bagged&scotti: Notice how the rear tire moves forward in the wheel well when these trucks get this low. The frts always look so centered. I didn't like the rear look, so i am in the process of building new rear arms with a 15 degree angle on the rear arm to get the pinion angle right again. I also moved the rear axle mounting point on the arms back 1" to get the rear tire centered in the wheel well. I will have the new frt bushings here mon or tues and will post a pic when done. |

i have just purchased 71c10.can anyone advise me why when veiwing the truck the front the wheels are 1inch offset to the body on the left hand side.front and rear.Nothing seems wrong with the front clip or the rear axle. The truck drives straight and true.Could it be that the body cab and buck has been located wrongley or is this not possible. The wheel pcd measures at 5inches not 4.75.Any information will be apreciated. The truck is in England.Thanks.

Re: Wheel/Tire Fitment Pictures & Info
15x8 stock toyota wheels. unsure of tire size. freshly bought. will look sweet with a 2" front drop which is in the works. think i may stick with these toyota wheels as they look like a decent aftermarket wheel. what do you guys think? they fill the fenders well. may go with a taller tire to fill the fenders to my hearts content.
