Re: MY build thread...

I had that talk with one of them tonight and I wasnt nice about it. That overflow tank in previous posts and the motor mounts...for him and now tomarrow I'm going to make him a mount for his boats motor,it broke. We discussed the mount thing after I told him he is pulling my motor trans for me next weekend so I can get this other truck out of my garage.

The start of progress again. I borrowed a stud gun and started pulling all my small dents and got some filler spread but still waiting for my sanding blocks to get here. here are some quick shots of tonights work. Hopefully I can get more studsm to pull the rest of the dents and get my other door handle patch welded in. My da went to crap so time for another.

Re: MY build thread...

It rained tonight so I decided to do a little blocking on the hood to find more low\high spots. Man blocking REALLY brings out the stuff thats just lurking under your nose to ruin a paint job. To my surprise eastwoods epoxy sands pretty nice with 80 grit. So now its time to pick up the stud gun and hammer and make some noise. Pics to come.

Well got some stuff done today got the drivers side door handle shave patch in and started mocking up some stuff to check fit. I also filled about 100 holes where PO used a screw and slide hammer to ATEMPT to pull dent then pulled with studs and skim coated with rage filler. More pics to come tonight.

Re: MY build thread...

Thats what I was going to do but ended up putting in another 4hrs in the shop and almost have all the dings filled and sanded, front hood seam mudded and drivers door edge I re gapped is ready for a quick sand then grindout the bottom of the drivers door (P.O.) bondo fest and see what I got. So if things go well I will be throwin some primer on the whole truck this weekend. YEA!!! Thanks protrash.

Re: MY build thread...

SWEET!!!!!!! Its always nice to see it one color. I just repaired passenger door 'lack of door check' damage. PO had 1/2'' of bondo in that crack. I ground it out and took a break and couldnt believe the pile of pink dust on the floor:lol:. Have fun.:aiiet:

Thanks guys I'm having a hard time doing this work because its messy and tiring especially in 90% humidity. Its almost done but then I get to sand the uro primer so I'm hopping when its all primed I can take alittle brake. I've put in about 20 hrs this week on it plus 40hr week.

Heres some pics from today at 105 degree weather. I ground out about a half a can of bondo out of the drivers door so now I have some rust and dents to fix but nothing major.

alexxwing 07-15-2009 12:19 AM

Re: MY build thread...

bondo is a great tool when used right but some peaple think a filler is a dent remover my friends 73 had a inch of bondo on the fender haha we found out when he hit a pole and a chunk fell out haha truck is looking good tho

shortbed70 07-15-2009 10:35 PM

Re: MY build thread...

I agree WHEN USED RIGHT but some people think it can fix all dents. So as you can see in the last pics the pile of mud I ground out and it only took me about 20 studs to fix the actual problem and one patch panel I will cut out and weld in tomarrow then I'll post pics. I will still have to set the gaps on the fender when I gat one but thats a later story... STAY TUNED and thanks for the views and kind words.. This board rocks and the people are awsome. If you can meet anyone whomever you can its an experience to say the least. Alot of use younger guys can learn alot from meeting some of the guys that have been around these trucks alot longer. PICS tomarrow when I'm done.

I also got the old truck out of my shop to my father in laws and he was givin me crap about what all has to be done and yada yada..

shortbed70 07-26-2009 02:12 PM

Re: MY build thread...

Well got the bottom of the drivers door patch tacked in and the hood seam is jaust about done (ALOT OF WORK) and roof is worked and primed. Now back to sanding.

Re: MY build thread...

Wow when things look straight block again I have a few more spots to fix on the back of the cab and some small spots on the hood but there almost done I will post pics when done. Hoods commin along nicely theres just two small spots I neeed to build up but thats it.

shortbed70 08-04-2009 10:00 PM

Re: MY build thread...

Nothing new to report just slingin some mud to get my body line crisp on the drivers door and sanding the roof but all the spots on the back of the cab are done just waiting to get the rest done so I can prime the hood back of the cab and roof for the final time I hope. Then seam seal everything and shoot some epoxy on the inside of the cab.
