here are a few more pics. the spring shackles show where we extended them 4 inches for the drop. im gonna have to cut em down a lil bit because they are hitting the underside of my bed. going with a rear end flip for the remaining drop needed. now to fabricate the new rear cross member and the frame will be done.

Re: Project Ol' Blue
Sounds good I actually wanted to paint my truck black or that gold that they came in (Or I could do both and be like the NO Saints haha)

Been in the hot shop today with no ac at work so didnt do too much when i got home. i took the measurements for the two new cross members and got the old exhaust pipes cut off to make room for the mid cross member. I decided to fab two so that the frame will be a lot stronger than factory. i have some 4x3 rectangular tubing at work, just have to talk the boss out of some of it lol
|
Re: Project Ol' Blue
I was thinking about doing like your old exhaust but making it come out before the rear wheels
|
Re: Project Ol' Blue
Looks like you need to break out the pressure washer

Re: Project Ol' Blue
dragon and 98 (or anybody).....give me your opinion on this.........
thinking about deleting me rear window, either completely or fabricating a "gmc" shaped window with red tinted plexi.....or finding a small window from like a 48-55 chevy and putting that in..........thoughts/suggestions? |

Re: Project Ol' Blue
Hey now thats an idea! I was thinking about getting a sliding glass for mine but I don't know haha, as for exhaust When I change my block I will probably get a cam and headers, but I don't know If I could do away with the catalytic converter without my computer freaking out, I will brainstorm it and see
|
Re: Project Ol' Blue
my converter along with all the other smog crap is going bye bye. of course i have a 24 year old truck, next year its an antique plus i live in a county where we dont have emissions control so im cherry on that part! if my check engine light stays on i will just take the bulb out.
|
Re: Project Ol' Blue
I don't think emissions is a problem here either its just one time i took it off and tried to start it and it wouldn't start until I put it back on, the check engine light has been on for over 7 years lol it doesn't bother me anymore haha
|
Re: Project Ol' Blue
i like the idea of the small window conversion.run the exhaust thru the frame just box it and put a piece of pipe a little larger than the tubing you are going to use.as far as the check engine light goes just have the computer re flashed to delete it

Got home from work and got the rear cross member fabricated with a pass through for the wiring harness and got it installed. the storms are coming on strong so i still have one weld to finish on it. I also got some 2 inch square tubing, 1/8 thick to put another cross member around the rear end area to stiffen the frame there. The 4x3 would not work because of clearance issues with the rear end. Next on the list is to get the rear end out, flip the brackets, cut the spring hangars down and get it back in so I can get the middle cross member fabricated and installed. Then the frame and suspension will be done for now. Still gotta get me some shorty shocks though.

Re: Project Ol' Blue
Sounds good oh and if you do decide to do a wood bed I would do some wood interior pieces also, I like the idea of the wood bed and also of your back glass. Keep the ideas coming haha

Re: Project Ol' Blue
You should do a mix of both windows, and It would depend if you want rust or rot haha you could do hard wood flooring That might not look bad I could do a rendering for your truck to on that program haha see how everything will work.

I would be careful of that sharp edge. Maybe put some weatherstrip around it? I just don't want the wires to chafe or anything. |
