looks great. Is there some trick to getting the windshield frame apart to put the glass in? I pulled all the screws and soaked it with PB rust and it still wont come apart. Your back glass looks great with the diecast on there

CHIZZLER 02-05-2013 11:10 PM

Re: 1940 "project moonshine"

we had to drill all the screws out and just pull the ends back and forth and use some penetrating oil.it took a bit to get it loose.we had the new glass cut locally and got all the seals at chevs of the 40s.everything fit pretty good.

Re: 1940 "project moonshine"

How did you mount your wood bed floor? Specifically with those strips and where did you get them from?

CHIZZLER 03-11-2013 05:14 PM

Re: 1940 "project moonshine"

if you look back on my build you will see we made a raised bed floor frame using 1x1 steel.i then got the bed strips from mar-k and had them not drill the holes so i could drill through the bed strip and the frame below.the bed strips come with or without holes at any length you want.

today we got a little more done.we punched 112 louvers in the hood.we also had to massage the front sheet metal around to align with the hood.all electrical is done but we have to mess with the yankee 960 turn signal switch a little.chizzler

Luther Grimace 03-17-2013 08:44 PM

Re: 1940 "project moonshine"

Great work. How long does it take to make all those louvers?

CHIZZLER 03-17-2013 11:08 PM

Re: 1940 "project moonshine"

thanks.louvers took about 3 hours to lay out and punch.you have to grid the backside so you have something to follow once you start going.it helps keep everything in line.
