New and New to You Parts...:metal:
|
Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
Yes Don my garage is starting to look like a Chevy parts shop . My plan is to try and get as many parts as I can before I start the strip down . The trouble is I enjoy driving it so I want to minimise the time it's of the road

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
Just another update
The company over here in the Uk have sent me an update on my gas tank . After doing all my home work it worked out a lot cheaper getting one made here than having one shipped so here is a picture http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...psdad0942d.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ps0bace2da.jpg |

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
Well....... What does $170.00 buy in England ?? (that is £100.00)
I think a lot of envy....... Martin got a door for his truck today. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y13...illybob281.jpg |
Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
Well what a good weekend Saturday myself and Rian managed to get my gates that I purchased from eBay cut down and hung
The gates http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...psdfcb3b08.jpg Due to the size of the opening in the carport not being standard the gates had to be cut down http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...psb76db158.jpg Once cut down the first gate was hung http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ps844bef43.jpg Then the second one was hung http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ps217b4387.jpg Rian then joined the two parts together he is better with wood than steel http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ps93cb446c.jpg Once joined the next stage was to make a frame to close off the top http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ps25672c4b.jpg All ready for next weekend to get the UPVC fitted to the top of the doors so as to enclose the carport so as to have a safe and secure place to work on the truck |
Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
The door isn't the only thing I got at the swap meet I also found a complete cab mounting kit for £30 about $50 . I also got a holly fuel pump with regulator as well as a fuel filter.

AAAAAHHHHH YES...... Your door. I think I was sickened by the fact that you scored a great door for $167.00 when I was left with only £40.00 in my pocket. :waah::waah::waah::waah::waah: Looking forward to going on a road trip with you next Saturday to deepest darkest Essex where people have 6 toes and webbed feet, while playing Banjo's in the shade of a tree to fetch your hood/bonnet you bought for your truck. PS: The gates actually came out really good and once closed up at the top, were even better. Now get the wood preserver paint and your finger out . |
Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
Grizz you are more then welcome to come with me to collect my hood , if it's arrived by next weekend, if your promise not to cry like last weekend
And as for the gates here is a picture of the top all closed in http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ps16ec580e.jpg |
Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
Well I got home from work to find a big package for me . Yes my tank has arrived so I opened the packing and this was inside
http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ps09a1c9a8.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ps547543aa.jpg The two blue pipes on the top are a return and a breather that way it's ready for fuel injection later if required |

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
Well Rian came over this morning to give me a hand to fit my bonnet (hood) to you guys
Taking the old one off we found one of the bolts was totally the wrong thread and just forced in . Hope this isn't a start of things to come . The strip down will start after the Easter holidays . Myself and Rian are going to take the trucks to a local show on Easter Sunday and Monday . That will be its last outing before I strip it down to the chassis and bolt all the new parts I have purchased through the winter . Now our clocks have gone foward and the weather is getting better it's light when I get home from work so work can start Hood stripped off http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ps0f5f2694.jpg I like this as my rottie is guarding the front as our other dogs come out to see what's going on http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...pse2bffc60.jpg Hood all fitted http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ps89f26703.jpg This is the wrong bolt used in the old hood http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ps289c295e.jpg |

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
Wheels Day has to be the best £5.00 you get to spend all year and its for charity.
Good to see you guys. Nicola got a load of sunburn on her face and looks like "Batman" I managed to spend £55.00 on "Stuff" Nicola made me buy and wear a Sheriff's badge that says "LICENSED JUBK COLLECTOR" I guess you did not find another door for your truck. I will upload a few of Nicola's photos later and post up here if you want??? |
Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
PS. I noted there were probably about 8-10 Chevy C10's and a GMC.

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
Today I took the truck for its last run out before I start to tear it down for the rebuild
The weather at today's show was a lot wetter than Fridays show, but still had a good day even if we got wet Took this picture as I went all the way to Spain in one of these about 35 years ago http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ps778ed706.jpg Here is a selection of the others I took http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...psdc6d6425.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...psf87c2eea.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ps1bc2abb2.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ps7b874d3f.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ps5d7066dd.jpg |

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
Well today instead of going back to the car show I went to a bike auto jumble . I got some more tools as you can never have to many . I also got some off set bulb holders so I can fit amber bulbs in my truck white lenses . Her are a few pics
http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ps6d96f785.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ps6aaff0c1.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...psd7f09925.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...psb5d21608.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ps5a891aae.jpg |
Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
Well the strip down has started
Last night I ordered my front and rear two inch lowered springs and shocks from Brothers . It worked out better to do a double order with Rian so we could split the shipping . So tonight when I got home from work I started stripping the front off . http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...psd2d27df0.jpg |

I give you Exhibit A http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps2d119a02.jpg http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps9e2e18f0.jpg How do you plead?? :chevy: Thanks for ordering our shocks n springs. I guess for the American readers we need to put things in perspective. Just on combining shipping, we save about $110.00 to the UK. I do not remember the total price you paid, but once we have landed the parts, it comes to about $730.00 once import duty and tax is added for the parts, so about $182.00 or in English money £107.00 per corner. |
Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
Doesn't look like the M5 will be moving much anytime soon... Trucklock, not gridlock...:haha:
|
Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
Once I strip the truck down to the chassis I will be sending it off to get sand blasted . I will then be able to move the mx5 if I need to ok RIAN The trouble is I have the Mondeo estate and my Mercedes convertable to use and two bikes so the mx5 has just been put on the back burner . I do need to move it on though so yes I should have got that finished before starting the truck
