Base and pearl coat sprayed down this morning. Just clear coat left to do after lunch.
I forgot how hard it is to always watch your hose and not rub any panels with anything while spraying paint is!! |

Re: "The Ayatollah of Rusty Hole'a 1987 SWB 6.0 4L80E
Do you think there has been a big difference in initial quality of the paint/clear with the better paint gun?
|
Re: "The Ayatollah of Rusty Hole'a 1987 SWB 6.0 4L80E
I'm not the best painter so a bit better gun helped me I think.
I've tried cheap guns from China & ones that are entry level. I think today the clear just seemed to lay out a lot better. |
Re: "The Ayatollah of Rusty Hole'a 1987 SWB 6.0 4L80E
Seems its a razor thin line of laying it on thick enough to make it lay out right, but not so thick that it runs.

Re: "The Ayatollah of Rusty Hole'a 1987 SWB 6.0 4L80E
I'm working on doing the same swap to my 87 right now. I'm currently working on the chassis, then it's on to brake and fuel lines. What type of lines did you run? If I remember correct from the pictures it looked like rubber instead of a hard line. Thanks in advance and I love the build so far, keep up the great work.

Re: "The Ayatollah of Rusty Hole'a 1987 SWB 6.0 4L80E
Gordon, where did you find those grommets? They look better than the factory ones. I have had trouble finding any grommets at all in the larger sizes. Thanks

Brake lines were made by a hydraulic shop. Tim id'd them a few posts ago.
The grommets are called "Seals-It". I got them at Summit Racing. Been working on improving the rats nest of wiring. |

I'm wiring the "window relay mod" and figured this pic I found on the interwebs might help someone else out too.
Several threads on here that describe how to do it if you're interested. |

Gordon, Looks great, should be on the road in no time... what brand clear and activator are you using?

Re: "The Ayatollah of Rusty Hole'a 1987 SWB 6.0 4L80E
Everything I used was PPG on this truck. But will be trying Valspar on my car next.
