My great grandfather bought in new in 64. Was a 3/4 ton. 305 v6, sm420.

My great uncle had it and sold it sometime in the 80's. My dad found it in 2005 and bought it for $300. It had been sitting at a warehouse and they'd throw cans in the back and haul them off every few months. Started instantly, ran smooth but had mismatched height tires on back, that were bald.

We keep it on the farm for a while, I drove it to high school once. Back brakes are sticking and the carb needs rebuilt now. I've finally fount some one piece rims and have pulled the carb off. Ill start taking more pictures from here on out.

Yeah, I agree, These trucks look so different when they were in there prime, unfortunately, very few of these GMC 3/4 tons ever get restored to factory specs.

This is my mom with her dads truck. I’m guessing around 1967 or so I know he didn’t buy it new. This is the one that started it for me. When my grandpa died my dad got it and had it until around 82 or 83 maybe. I remember when he traded it in and kept track of it for a little while but it eventually disappeared, wasn’t much I could do as a 12 or 13 year old anyway. Second pic is me in the bed around ‘74 or ‘75, looks like I’m about 3 or 4.

The Chev truck is at about the middle of the shots fired - the shots came from the far right window of the 6th floor (it has 7) of the shaded face of the building under the Hertz sign (that's the texas school book depository, so, kinda below and right of the "S" in "Chevrolets").

It's now called the "6th Floor Museum." Was there not too long ago, was a little eerie, but pretty interesting. Hertz sign is gone now, but it was there in the 60's.

not to stray too far from intended subject or dwell on the macabre tragedy there, I do remember reading about the building some years ago and was able to pull these two articles up with pictures..

The book depository circa 1963. The giant Hertz sign that sat on the top of the building in 1963 was removed in 1978 because it was found to cause structural damage. The sign was dismantled, put into storage, and is being maintained by The Sixth Floor Museum, who recently restored the original Book Depository sign. (image: Mary Ferrell Foundation)

I love these kind of threads, I just went all the way through it. One thing I really like is that there are hardly any off topic pictures posted ... "While having nothing to do with the subject matter, this is a nostalgic picture" haha! And of course when one picture of Jungle Pam gets posted expect a ton more ... tsk tsk boys heh.

This is a nostalgic picture thread in the main area of the 60-66 area and those are years truck Ill be looking for. Even the where is Waldo style pics as someone mentioned lol. Thanks for all that have taken the time to post, very cool stuff!!!

Look at how rusty this already is. I wonder what part of the country this was taken in. From the looks of the gas station I would think this was 1970s, early 80's at the most recent, and that fender is just gone.

No other info was listed. I don't believe it was his truck, just one from his hometown.

I ran across this picture in a news story. Looks like the back end of a step-side in the upper right of the picture, but the image is dated 1971 so it could be a square body.

Not sure what this couple was up to in 1971. I had already been drafted and was off doing my tour of duty, so I don't know what was going on back in the world.

not TOO far back in time, but it was in black & white (when I found it) - if anyone can tell me the singer AND song it was in... you get bonus points.
(ok, the singer won't be that hard, he's in the pic). NICE truck!
