Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates
Got my adapter plate for my 63 today. Excellent quality workmanship. Template makes it an easy task to get done. Already had it apart ready to go. Took about 2-3 hours very nice upgrade. I will be contacting you when I'm ready to get the power brake booster bracket.

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates
Captain,
I purchased your power steering adapter plate a while back and got it mounted. Very nice quality piece and am very happy with it. I did have a question though that I was hoping you could help with. The power steering box is from an 86 C20 that I’m using on my 66 C20 which has a 76 454 BB in it. I still need to get the power steering pump assembly, lines, and reservoir to complete the project but not sure what year I should be searching for for these items. Any advice there? |
Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates
Your '86 steering box will have Metric with an o-ring style fittings. So it will be best if you purchase a 1980 and newer power steering pump. Most likely one for a 454, but that also depends on what water pump you are running. A long pump or the correct short pump. As for the lines that is a tossup. The lines for a '80+ truck with a 454 may or may not work. The only one that is a worry is the pressure hose. Personally I would just have a hydraulic shop make a hose for you with the correct ends. The return line does not have crimped on ends, so that is easy.

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates
Got the adapter in the mail, it looks well made. Thanks for all your help and all the time spent helping me and others on this website. Is Aotte build the most helpful with install on K trucks?

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates
Les's thread is good as well as 72cs20's build thread on his '66 K20 Adventure Rig. He says that he used the 2wd template to mount his steering box.

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates
Hi Captainfab. I am converting my 69C20 from manual to power steering. I bought a 75C20 parts truck to harvest parts from. I think i'll need a box spacer from you and I'm not sure what else. Will the 75 pitman arm work?? Or will i need to do something else? Thanks in advance.

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates
You do not need any steering box adapter plate on a '69 C series frame. The integral power steering was first available starting in 1968. All you need to do is bolt your '75 steering box directly to the frame. As far as I know the '75 pitman arm will bolt up to your '69 draglink.

The pump mounts on your engine. The steering box bolts to the frame.

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates
Hey Captain,
I know covid has probably had some impact on your supply/distribution. Just wondering if there are any brackets currently available. I'm ready to buy if so. Thanks. |
Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates
Yes I have been severely impacted......I have never been busier and have not slowed down one bit. I replied to your email.
