Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates
Hey Captainfab!
I'm doing a 2wd PS box onto my '67 K1500, for a cross over steering setup. Am I correct in believing your plate will let me bolt it up without dimpling the frame? It's a flat frame, no dimple, no raised bolt pads. If so, shoot me a PM with price and payment info! Thanks! |
Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates
Yes this adapter plate works with all '68-'86 C/K and '87-'91 R/V steering boxes. However I do not have a template for locating the steering box on the K series frames. I sent you a PM.

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates
Received the power steering adapter plate for 66’ Suburban C10, with 89’ suburban front crossmember/suspension/steering added. The adapter plate will add the 89’ power steering gear box nicely. Also, your idler arm locating template for the newer style idler from '68-'86 C/K and '87-'91 R/V steering set ups, is great too. Like this idler arm solution much better, allowing use of the whole newer steering set up. It also save cost of couplers.
Thanks. |
Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates
Thanks for the post Les.
Just to clarify, the K series and V series will not have an idler arm as they are 4wd models. |
Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates
Captain, I am installing a 1974 C20 front cross member (disc) into my 63 C20. I would like to order the steering gear box bracket.

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates
Just received another steering gear box adapter plate for 1966 suburban, new addition, it is very nice.
Also got the idler arm frame template, allows use of newer idler arm/linkage as mention above. Thanks, Les |
Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates
Anyone have any recommendations for a newer style box with metric fittings for stock 5.3 ps pump. Going on a 60 with Capt Fab plates.
|
Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates
All C series steering boxes '80-'86 and R series steering boxes '87-'91 have metric with an o-ring style fittings.

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates
hi Capt, i have a 65 with a factory power assist steering and because of many leaks i want to upgrade. i already have operating system. so what do i need and how much shipped to 85120? what year steering box?
thank you dave |
Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates
The prices are exactly the same as in post #1 of this fort sale thread. The steering box adapter plate alone is still $57.50 plus $8.45 for shipping. If you also need the tube and flange for the original steering column, that is $27.50 and an additional $7.05 for shipping. You will need a '68-'86 C series or '87-'91 R series steering box and pitman arm. In 1980 the fitting style changed from SAE to Metric with an o-ring.

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates Moog Part Number
Anyone have the Moog Part number they used on a 60-62 swap. I picked up a MOOG K6131 but read here someone used a MOOG K6143.
The K6131 I have seems too long, measures 5" on centers. Mines a C10 too |
Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates Moog Part Number
Why do you think it is too long. Those two are only about 1/8" different in length.

Thank you for the compliment Les, I appreciate it. I will relay that to my wife. She built the website and maintains it for me.
