NorCalGal; thank you
Rickysnicker; Emma no longer works for me. Not sure what happened she just kinda quit answering her phone. I assume she quit. I now employ both my sons. They are responsible (with guidance) for anything that comes out of my shop. I have been on house arrest for two months and will remain so indefinitely in the VA home. |
Re: Orson the 49 GMC ~ Chris C.
skymags: definitely add the info on Frenching the headlights. I really like that look on AD's

Today they’ll be setting the core support height and standing up the bed and figuring out how to get that steel bed out of it.

Re: Orson the 49 GMC ~ Chris C.
Thanks joedoh, was think they’ll turn out to be pretty damn good builders! I certainly wasn’t expecting their 1st one to be solo!

Re: Orson the 49 GMC ~ Chris C.
Nice work on the core support. What type of cooler are you useing? It looks and fits perfect.

We finally managed to get that diamond plate floor out of the bed, but when we did we realized there was no angle iron on the bedsides. Now our steel suppler is 35 miles away, so I sent Alex this morning. The last picture is of the core support mounted.

Re: Orson the 49 GMC ~ Chris C.
Will you document the flipping of the leaf springs and alignment with the bed sides?
I will be doing this to mine when the times comes. |
Re: Orson the 49 GMC ~ Chris C.
of course!

So today they managed to build the cross sills and bolt them to the frame. They also located and welded angle to the bedsides and mocked up the bed.

We’ve put the rear fenders on and began mocking up the passenger running board. Haven’t put in the 4x4 rear or flipped the springs yet. We’ve paid for, but haven’t been able to arrange pickup for the rear end. It’s local and he’s a buddy of mine. So we’re kind of waiting on that for spring flip, shocks, and drop blocks.

Re: Orson the 49 GMC ~ Chris C.
another great looking build.
I may have missed it on past builds, but is there a preferred accelerator cable that you have found works best on these AD trucks with SBC with a 4 bbl carb? My 1994 S10 accel. cable is way too long. Thanks |
Re: Orson the 49 GMC ~ Chris C.
I use 99-02 Silverado throttle cables for cabled throttle bodies. And TAC modules for DBW.

Re: Orson the 49 GMC ~ Chris C.
