I went with Painless wiring harness from Summit Racing. It was $287 after $100 rebate. I wasn't prepared for having to cut the firewall, but it was pretty easy with a dremel tool.

Sorting the wires was kind of fun. It made me feel like I'm actually going to have a truck!

Re: Slowly I build a truck
how come you covered the speaker? dust preventive?
looks good either way |
Re: Slowly I build a truck
Thanks guys. I covered the speakers partly to prevent dust, but mostly because the old one was covered, and if someone looks through the grate I want it to look as original as possible. I realize I've already stepped away from original, but that's the thought process.

Hooking up wires for heater, washer, and wiper switch. It's starting to get crowded under here.

Glove box and light. That was hard. It's a good thing it will be mostly hidden.

Re: Slowly I build a truck
Your build is coming along great. If this is a slow build I cannot think of what to call mine. I took three years from the purchase to getting it up and driving again. Keep up the good work.

New Shifter - I had to use a dremel tool to shave the ball on the end down a bit for it to fit. The painless wiring kit makes you re-use the original half moon connector. I never could make the old terminals release with a paper clip or small screwdriver, so I just pulled them through with needle nose pliers.
