Re: LVPhotos 1962 Build

Nice truck LV. I'm new around here but I've been looking at a lot of threads and I like your build. I am really digging the salt flat wheels. What size are you running and do you plan on fronts as well?
My main question is before you put the porterbuilt front end on how low were you able to go with the torsion bars and do you have any pics? I didn't know which pics were with the torsions and with the porterbuilt.
I have a 62 and will be starting a similar build soon but I may want to keep the torsion rods.

The truck is still rolling stock front. No bumpstops and cranked all most out. 235/60/15 stock. The rear are 295/45/
18 Nitto 555 on 18x9 Salt flats fronts will be 18x8 probably 245/40/18. Thanks for looking

Mine vs stock. About a bumper lower. If you look to the left of mine there is a camera shooting a commercial for TUCKERS Trucks. Seen on Powerblock. After all the footage all I got was the corner of fender on tv.

Thanks for the pics. They help a lot as I didn't realize you still had the bars in. I like the stance of your truck as it sits now, but I do like em low. Is the ride ok at that height? Keep up the good work and I'll be keeping an eye on the rest of your build.

Re: LVPhotos 1962 Build

The ride is softer the more you lossen and stiffer as you raise. I had the a-arms flat now up a little knowing the new stuff is coming. Remember with adjustment you need alignment or tire wear is eminent.

Playing in the garage. Porterbuilt Track bar mount tacked in, bar cut and welded to length. Some pie left overs from trimming fenders. The circle is schrader valve for bags. The black outline is stock shock mount for those looking to move to outside frame. Ground down the top of the pumpkin. Oh and installed the longer PB trailing arms.

Yep, that was at TUCKERS a few years back. Just stopped in this Saturday after stopping by Fig Speed there on the corner to get spark plugs. Been to their shows, showed up to pick up parts and they were filming tv spot. Camera Guy was all over truck but as per most tv the good stuff gets cut. My desert race videos always got my Durango in at least one shot.

Sharing photos I came across these. The Welder Up guys will be hitting the Discovery TV show list in April. This one tows the '55. 1200 ft/lb it does it fast. Quite for little stack.

Filling seams. If you look in the bed you can see where the fender trimming was done. Note: aired up not at ride height.

Cool truck! Really like the salt flats and tire choice! I was looking for pics of 18" wheels and tire sizes and ran across your post.

Re: LVPhotos 1962 Build

Thanks for sharing the pics. Looks great. In looking I see that you have 5 lugs in the rear. Just curious what you did to get rid of the 6 lugs? I have a 62, swapped in a newer cross member (out of an 84) so have 5 lugs up front and now need 5 in the back to match. I have looked into getting the spindles re-drilled, but not sure that is the best way to go. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks

Re: LVPhotos 1962 Build

I used the CPP axle swap. Or you can order up others with right measurements. The drums are stock five lug replacement parts. I believe the axles were 33.5 " not much to it. Pull tires, drums, drain rear, remove retainingbolt and pin, push axles in to release c-clips.

Re: LVPhotos 1962 Build

Do you happen to have the CCP part number? When I looked before (and again just now) they did not have a 62 listed. It starts with 63. Or were you able to get the 63+ one to work?

Thanks again

Re: LVPhotos 1962 Build

Mine was a 67-70 12 bolt. So the 63+kit worked . The older ones came with spider gears. Call Cpp to conferm.

Also the Guys at #extremeautocustoms posted many in progress pictures of mine.
