Re: Project '86
Little update....
My install kit showed up this weekend so I got starte on it. Had to recess the striker a bit to get everything to work right and in the process I cut out an unecessarily large hole. Went from this http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...m/DSCF1824.jpg To this http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...m/DSCF1835.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...m/DSCF1836.jpg Still have plenty to do but it's a start. I am going to add another piece to the top so that it flows back in like the bottom does. The transition from the striker plate to the bottom piece I added looks a little odd because it goes from a square edge to a rounded edge so that is something I have to work out as well. |
Re: Project '86
progress looks great!

Re: Project '86
looks really good.. i realy like the front fender idea, and the tailgate to...

Re: Project '86
I added the piece on the top and kept the edge square. Not quite sure which way I like better though.

Re: Project '86
The rear of the fender is unfinished of course but since you can see it now I had to do something about it.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...m/DSCF1892.jpg Made a filler to take care of most of the gap http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...m/DSCF1894.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...m/DSCF1900.jpg Then made several more and got them all tacked up http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...m/DSCF1905.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...m/DSCF1909.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...m/DSCF1908.jpg |
Re: Project '86
Wow, really impressed with your work/progress!! What a treat to see!
Question. With the front fender opening lowered along with the fender itself...at ride height, will you have lock to lock steering, or will the fender modifications limit the amount you can turn the wheels? |
Re: Project '86
I get enough lift to clear the tires so turning shouldn't be an issue.

Re: Project '86
No new progress, but a couple of new pics

Re: Project '86
Looks cool, and I really like what you did with the front fenders.
Why does it seem like your front tires are more vertical (not leaning in at the top) than most bagged trucks when it's laid out? |
Re: Project '86
Paint or primer? looks good either way. What color interior are you going with?

Re: Project '86
I was thinking tan or even the factory saddle color would look great. Sounds like we're on the same wavelength. Nice work!!

Re: Project '86
Finally got it together except for the hood which I pick up tomorrow.

Re: Project '86
Dang, that looks sweet.
Did you ever get around to doing your steering? Still curious if you had to do anything after the Z |
Re: Project '86
Haven't done it yet. It won't connect back the way it is though so I am going to have to get some joints and jocky it around a bit.
Nice sig by the way.... |
Re: Project '86
Ha! Thanks. Posted that way back in a thread on here somewhere.
If you don't mind, take some pics when you get it back together. |
