Re: Bad Idea
Cool build, those Captfab brackets look stouter than the other brands.

Re: Bad Idea
Great build, tagging along for the rest.

Got the twins mounted up in their PB brackets. Just sitting here trying to get enough sack to mount them in the right spots with the bed off. Probably just sit here and stare at it for a bit.:barn:

Don't know what I'll get done today with the toy out. You should see the neighbors when I bring this thing out.

Old people shake their heads at it.
Husbands wanna ride it till their wives say "um no". Kids wanna know what the hell it is. Mostly people just laugh and say I'm crazy. The thing is an outright death trap....but fun as hell. |

Got this little sum ***** this week. Looks like it sits really low when it's mounted to bottom of the frame rail. But, that's how they say it's supposed to mount so unless someone on here tells me different that's how it's goin.
Was pretty sick so didn't anything done this week. Did talk to the guy I think is gonna paint it. I don't even wanna talk about that. I'm not a body man and not a painter. I won't pretend to ever be. I'm a really good wrench that's about it. I never had anyone show me any of that and I know I don't have the head or nerves to learn. So, the body is in another's hands. |

Here's where it sits now. Seems to fit right. Just looks low to me.

Re: Bad Idea
Could it be mounted higher in the frame & still clear the bed floor? It does look pretty low.
|
Re: Bad Idea
From the threads I've searched on here it seems like the way I got it is how it goes. Keep in mind my pic was with chassis all the way down. It is low...is it lower than the Blazer tank that was on there?....who knows. I'll probably put a call or a message into Boyd Welding just to make sure. Even though I'm staring right at their directions right in front of me.
|
Re: Bad Idea
Im sure if that pic was with the frame sitting as low as it will go that thats not the hight you will be driving at anyway.... so.... looks good to me.
By the way... what panhard bar are you using? |
Re: Bad Idea
Oh, if that's all the way down then you're all good. Boyd tanks are primo!!!
|
Re: Bad Idea
It's a nice piece. It's goin in one way or another. I'm overthinking it.

Re: Bad Idea
Yeah, since you're all the way down with the frame, the tank is fine. That's how my tank is mounted, although not a Boyd's tank. Wish it was though, yours looks great and I've heard many good things about those tanks.

Ain't got a whole lot done recently. Weather has been decent so I been house workin a whole lot. Did mock up the rear (no pics) and front Accuair sensors. Kind of a pain in the ass to find the right spot for them but I think I might leave them where they're at for now. Moving on to mounting the VU4 and the eLevel brain then the wiring for it. Still trying to decide to use dual relays for the compressors or the simple looks of the single bigger Accuair relay. Some work gettin done.....not much but some.

Well the air ride is in and wired up and running for what it can do now. Can't program the sensors till I got the whole truck together and running. Without no weight on this thing I can damn near hop the sum *****.

The low point won't be this low because I'm running stock inner fenders but at least this is a reference point for a stock crossmember on bags.
