I got the door all fixed up, did a round of body work on it, and shot some epoxy and high build primer on it. It turned out pretty nice, and I'm glad I took the time to fix it.

They work good for prepping something for paint, they seem to scuff the surface a little better than a wire wheel.

The seat upholstery ordered from rockauto showed up yesterday, so my oldest son gave me a hand with getting it installed. The seat frame, and foam are in great shape, so we blasted and painted the tracks, and installed the new cover. It's not perfect by any means, but I'm happy with the outcome for the price paid, and I think with some exposure to warm weather, and use, some of the wrinkles will relax.

You could take a blowdryer to it to warm it up and that should get some of the wrinkles out of it. |
Re: 85 GMC dirt cheap refresh
On the nice hot humid MN summer days, it'll straighten out. Lol!

Finished up a round of blocking out the doors, and they got some epoxy, and high build primer. I will plan on blocking them out again this evening, and probably try to get the inner fenders and cowl prepped for primer as well.

I scuffed up, primed, and painted the inner fenders. They are satin black, but are still wet in the picture so they look glossy.

Re: 85 GMC dirt cheap refresh
Thanks guys! The door/fender paint rack is awesome, they are made by innovative tools. They are a little on the expensive side, but they are pretty sturdy, and have a ton of adjustability. I have 2 of the door/fender racks, and 1 of the ultra racks for hoods, tailgates, liftgates, ect... They are worth the price in my opinion.

Got home from work early this morning, so I spent a little time in the garage and got the doors hung. On my next days off I'm going to spend some time sanding and buffing what I have done so far, and get it moving under its own power, so I can back it out of the shop while I'm painting the rest. Even wrapped tight in plastic, some dust seems to find its way in!

I finished getting the few last things hooked up to the engine, and got it running and in tune, and picked up a windshield today, and got that and the rear window installed, and have a good start on the sanding and polishing. This is the drivers door.:metal:

The rear slider was a real pain in the butt! I thought about putting a solid rear glass in, but the slider is on the spid, so I figured I'll leave it for now.
