Killer score on the burb.Nice changes so far too! Looks like you're having a good time figuring out what you want and keeping the family involved and excited about it is just icing on the cake!:metal:

You must be down south somewhere as I've not seen any up here at any of the more northern shows. The white one sounds like it has a fairly healthy engine in it. TBH I've not seen that many 67-72's as most of the trucks over here seem to either be older or much newer. How about posting some pictures of your burb?

WOW! I don't know how I missed this build? Wow! Great ride for a great price! I drove to Cali this past summer and saw probably 30 67-72 trucks and burbs out in NM, AZ and CA. Daily drivers mostly with sweet sun faded patina. I like the way the sheetmetal survives out there. I hope to go back dragging a trailer some time. Keep the pics coming! Hope the knee heals quick.:ito:

Hi Phil, I'm near Stratford on Avon, I haven't taken any pics of the burb lately mainly because of the weather and I'm very busy at work , there are some pics of it on
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=68579&page=19
and
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=68579&page=22

it's a 69 C20 with 4 speed manual and a 350 engine, I was using it daily until the weather got bad so i'm using a £100 banger until it gets a bit better, the 55 rambler in the background is mine too, it's getting the mild custom treatment and a small block ,wide whites etc
My burb is going to get lower in the near future, I've got a replacment top tailgate on it's way from America too, then i'm going to get rid of the vinyl roof and paint the the top, then it'll be the tow truck for my dragster
Oh a friend of mine has got a 1970 C10 panel van for around £2k it needs some welding , it's a 350 with 3 on the tree, give me a call on 01789 450001 at work and i'll give you his number if you're interested

Well Im thinking of taking a lil road trip to So Cali to check out some houses and see some family during my kids birthdays in Early February. I am contemplating taking the Burb.....hmmmmmm?
It runs great, shifts perfect but only has a th400 sooooo my rpm at 70mph is around 3200....should i be worried about long haul at sustained rpms? I feel like my truck could go anywhere at anytime so its not a question of reliability or even mpg(lol).
Speed limit in AZ is 75mph and drops to 55-65mph once we get into Cali I have an all new cooling system, good compression on the crate motor and a nice exhaust now...may need to do some sound proofing before the long drive though.
Its about 520 miles to my Father in laws house in Fontana. Any pointers or should I just take the wifes minivan:(?

Go for it! That's what they built this truck for in '68! We are just spoiled with the overdrives & creature comforts of todays cars!

Picked up some goodies for the Burb last weekend at the Fontana speedway ol car swapmeet, and finally got around to installing them last night with my dad in law.
A few beers and a pizza later we had the HEI conversion done and fired up first try.
oh, and I removed all my tint, I think it looks cleaner without it actually. We are working going to install a 700r4 next weekend and that will make my fuel mileage and socal highway driving better...I hope:).

Need to install my new door I got from member budnikguy.

Here are some pics(everyone loves pics)

yeah, yeah, my intake manifold looks like crap now that I have all that shiny stuff in there! Gonna have to remedy that and clean up the engine bay a lil better.

Re: 68 Suburban Coolbus Build/maintain.

Well the tired ol 350 is ....well....tired. Its showing its age and abuse now. Smokes a lil on the right bank under heavy acceleration, is leaking coolant from a freezeplug, and is generally old. Soooo looks like a rebuild is in order.

Re: 68 Suburban Coolbus Build/maintain.

Wow, so I re-did the top end on the ol coolbus and good thing too. Had the beginnings of a blown head gasket and 4 lobes on the cam were damn near rounded off!!! Picked up some 1.94heads and a decent cam too. She runs soooooo damn good now.

Here ya go!

Jegs came through and so far Im pretty happy. Its nothing too aggressive but it works!
Got a deal on some 1.94 heads at the Pomona swap and threw on as well. Still need a new intake though.
Im workin on the timing a lil more and need to know what I should set the Idle at?
Right now timing is at 32* mechanical advance at 2000rpm. Is this where I should be?
JEGS #555-200103
Hydraulic Flat Tappet Cam & Lifter Kit
Lift: .442"/.465"
Adv. Duration: 272°/282°
RPM Range: 2000-4500

any help would be greatly appreciated.
