Re: Here`s mine,let`s see yours

I finally got some pics of my 'Burbs. It all started a year or so ago with the black & grey 4x4. Right now it is waiting for a transmission transplant. I want to take out the 700R4 and install an SM-465. I found an SM-465 with the clutch pedal/brake pedals & linkage on craigslist.com for an awesome deal, and as soon as I get my shop reorganized I will get it going again.

I then came across the Blue 'Burb (82 3/4ton with a 6.2L diesel) and figured it would be a great donor vehicle....my friend and I split the cost 50/50. My friend wanted the engine for his Blazer and figured I would use the rest of it for a restoration project. We both figured it was too nice to part out at the time and shortly after we bought it, my friend picked up a 6.2 diesel so we decided to use it as a back-up vehicle. Besides, it runs great.

The gold-brown 'Burb (84 3/4ton with a 454/Th-400) I got for free and at first I wasn't sure what I was going to do with it. My Brother said he wanted it so I pretty much gave it to him with one exception...I get the engine. The 454 needs some work, so I figured I would install my 350/TH-350 (both have only 30K on them) so I wouldn't have to worry about it breaking down on my Brother....we worked something out for that. Once the 350 combo is installed the rest is on my Bro's $$$. Amazingly that 'Burb has no rust, at least none that I could find...yet. It needs some serious interior work, but nothing my brother can't handle.

A few days ago I towed home the 67 and have been itching to work on it ever since. Once I get the transmission in my 4x4 and the engine swapped out in my Brother's 'Burb, I will start tearing in to the 67. I really want to convert it to diesel so I did some trading with my friend (he's getting the 454 and Th-400) to get the Blue 'Burb for myself. Once I get the bodywork done on the 67, I'm hoping to use the engine, transmission, hydro-boost brakes, rear axle, and whatever else I can fit in from the blue 'burb. My goal is to have a 67 'burb with a 6.2L diesel with a Banks turbo kit on an air-bag suspension....at least that is the dream for now. Thanks

Re: Here`s mine,let`s see yours

Thanks! Getting the 67 home has got me motivated (again) to get my other projects done so I can start on it. I have my 4x4 in the shop and started working on it. I'm going to convert it to a manual and later on I may end up rebuilding the auto (700R4) for the 67. I hope to have my 4x4 done by the end of next week.

I`d like to swap my`91 Suburban drivetrain into an older GM.

Re: Here`s mine,let`s see yours

K, man you get around!! I just bought a 74 3/4 4X4, 350/350. I plan to strip it to bare bones as I want the drivetrain in one of my other projects. (rust free, all original, paint and faux woodgrain stickers!~)Couple of questions: what transfer case is in it, how do I get rid of the full time 4X4 and should I just sell this whole and buy the parts seperately? It is an all original 74 with like 96K miles with dual AC, etc etc? These are like redheaded step children in AZ, maybe thats why I got such a deal on it!? PM me.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds to me lilke you have an NP-203. I know there is a part-time kit for it, but I'm not sure who sells it.

Re: Here`s mine,let`s see yours

I don`t get around enough,.I just now saw this about the`74.Is it full-time 4wd or just doesn`t have lock-out hubs?I believe full-time came later and you should have a NP205.I guess it was an option, but I thought it didn`t start for a couple years after the body design change,like`76.Does the t-case shifter have lo-loc on the knob?I think those levers are on the left side of the hump, too.

Nothing too special here but a picture of a rust free rig (except for the typical paint delaimination surface rust) that a few buddies and I screwed together in CO for another buddy that was looking to transplant a solid squarbody SFA Suburban to MI. After a year of squatting around my garage the beast finally made the 1500 mile journey from Southern CO to Detroit in August 2006. He only had one issue while driving it to back to MoTown…..the heater core puked on the floorboard in Omaha. No biggie… just had to bypass the heater hoses and keep on trucking.

1988 GMC K2500 Suburban, 6.2L diesel, TH400

New goodies…

Swapped in new AMG 6.5L turbo diesel engine with a modified mechanical 4 plunger injection pump, tweaked early 90’s GMT400 turbo, late model oil cooling system, A/C and a 14 bolt full-floating rear axle with 4:10 gears to replace the original 14 bolt semi-floater.

Look out Kid Rock and Eminem…your hoopy has arrived. No 22 inch bling bling wheels allowed.

I like it.It`s pretty like mine:lol:.Whats the hp-rating on that motor? Were there clearance issues at the turbo outlet/heater box?Maybe the heat from the elbow helped haisten the heater core`s demise. Not that they need help at 18 years old.
