Long back one of our family friend got injured while working in a garage,,,
it was his hand which got injured as he had worn a bracelet in the hand,,,
it occured when he was clearing the circuit panel from the front engine pipe,,,

I don't wear mine when I am wrenching so it won't get dirty. I lost my college class ring by hanging my hand out the window after working on a car. I also don't wear my watch because it is the type with the velcro band. I can't imagine what would happen if the watch got caught on something!

I make it a point to not wear watches rings ect, nothing bad ever happened but when i was a young kid i did have a ring hang up in stuff a couple times that took me by supprise.

While in High School we watched a safety film at the beginning of the year in wood shop, it showed some actual industrial accidents (sans bodys) One that stood out for me was a shot of a wood lathe that had hair wrapped up around it and about a 2"X4" chunk of scalp hanging by the hair, ouch! ..

After all that no rings or chains for me, Not to mention wearing gloves around spinning equipment.... A lifetime of turning wrenches, manufacturing and Machinist/CNC Mill operator is enough for me to just not wear any. I have all my digits, knock on wood.

I never take mine off...

In the 22 years I've been wearing mine @ work, I have only had one mishap - arced it against the ratchet and fender taking a pos battery terminal off. That too a couple of weeks to heal!

I still wear mine, but only because I can't get it off. My fingers got too fat after marraige.

A friend of mine and his dad have built show cars for years, and his dad refuses to take off the ring when he works. For him, the ring actually saved his finger. Somehow, the front suspension fell off the jack stand and the edge of the brake rotor landed on his hand and came to rest on his ring. For some crazy reason, the ring did not collapse, but supported the weight and saved his finger.

Guess its like seat belt saves few lives and still can cause other to loose theirs. Plus I refuse to wear either one of them. My wife in three weeks has already been told I wear it that day only. I call it advance training.

I used to wear mine until something got under it, drove it into my finger and gave me an infection from hell. I keep it on my key ring. I don't wear watches ether.
