$0.00 http://67-72chevytrucks.com/board/ubbhtml/smile.gif it was my grandpas w/ a pretty straight body w/ 60K miles on it, he gave it to me when i was 13 thinking it was just gonna be my hunk of junk first car. I proved him wrong, he says it looks better than the day he bought it. I'm 18 now, and it is my daily driver but i take it to some car shows. won a few trophies too. i love my truck.

Got mine for free, Was a gift from my father.

jay-dawg 05-17-2002 03:15 PM

Just going over old posts and wanted to put mine in.

I got mine free from my dad last year. 68 short step, 250 with 3 gear shifter on the floor. It's been a work truck since before I was born. Dad bought it in 72. Looks like it was a navy truck before he got it. everything is rot to hell except for the front bumper. I'm going to slowly put it together. It ran when I got it. I need to get it running again.

I paid $ 6000.00 for mine. 72 LWB cheyenne. It was restored 6 years ago, and I wish I had picture of it, it has absolulty no rust on it at all, the only complant that I have is the engine, the guy put a 305 in it when he went through the truck, and it does not have enough guts in it, I am putting together a 383 for it now, going to have right at 450 hp. The interior is awesome, every thing is brand new in side the truck, ac blow very very cold.

wow huge thread! http://67-72chevytrucks.com/board/ubbhtml/smile.gif

Well, I paid 300.00 and a Pontiac sunbird (I had 150.00 in that car). It was my neighbors truck which sat in his driveway for years and years.. never moved. The dumbarse parked it backwards in this driveway so it collected rain water and didnt drain (yes, imagine with the bed looks like http://67-72chevytrucks.com/board/ubbhtml/frown.gif ) I've done nothing to the body, I've build 3 engines, 1 trans and done a few other mods to it. 4 engines?!?! hehe yep, I like playing around with different combinations and since I do that type work for a living, its no big deal.

I sold the truck in late '96 for 3000.00 and the guy ran it into the ground http://67-72chevytrucks.com/board/ubbhtml/frown.gif saddest thing ive ever done! I got in contact with the guy 2 years later and found out it had been sitting in his driveway for the last year. He couldnt afford to pay for the gas LOL. Soooo, I offer to buy it back from him. He's hurting for a car with gas mileage at this point so I offer him a straight even trade for a 86 Pontiac 6000 I had just bought ($50.00) and put an engine in ($150.00 used), I was amazed... He said OK!

Hell if nothing else, my stupid mistake in selling the truck atleast made me a few $$$$ hehe.

MIKE'67 05-17-2002 08:34 PM

I paid $5,000.00 for my '67. The previous owner died and I bought it from his estate. It was mostly done. His wife let it sit a year before she would sell it. It has a rebuilt 327, turbo 350, 4.11 rear end, changed to 5 lug with power disc brakes, new "Painless" wiring, new "Vintage" air, Dakota Digital gauges, power windows, tilt wheel, frenched third brake light. It had received a quality paint job shortly before the man passed away. I've put another $2,500 in it in tires, wheels, bucket Silverado seats, Flowmasters and on and on. I found receipts with the truck that show the previous owener spent $4,500.00 on work he had done. And that didn't include the price of the truck. I feel fortunate to have bought this for only $5,000.00. And no I didn't take advantage of the widow. That was her asking price. I just happened to be the first person to look at it.

Couldn't resist adding mine to the list.
Paid $3000 in Oct '01 for a large tool box, nice Kenwood stereo system and 4 fancy (new) tires and rims/trim. And the guy was nice enough to throw in a decent truck body to hold it all together. Drove it home, been driving it ever since. Replacing the carb with an original style manual choke this week. No rust, and ok paint job. Have less than $250 invested to date.

Paid $500.00 for my LWB 70 GMC Fleet back in 85 down in Houston, Tx. Everything was held together with 3M adheasive. Including the heads on the 400 someone put in it. Swapped the 400 for a 283 and drove it for years before upgrading to a 350. Parked it in the garage to start a rebuild back in 93. Traded the motor to get my trees trimmed. Doing a complete frame off restoration, top to bottom, bumper to bumper. Almost done. Can't wait. Made it an antique just working on it. A few more parts and finish the paint, and I'll have a brand new 70 GMC, built like it should have been.

I paid $600 for my first 68 GMC in 1991 ( a great truck with air and very little rust) then just this year I traded a 78 dodge for my 70 c10 then I paid $200 for a running 69 then $300 for my running 72 C20 then $1,650 plus the 69 grille for my new 72 K5.

I paid $500 for a 1968 50th Anniversary Heavy C20 CST longbed with the 160K miles 396 close ratio 4speed and factory air, all original and everything intact including the numbered carb and etc. Bodies pretty straight, horribly ugly original paint that looks like baby poop, interior looked like hell. In the process of de-anniverserizing it and changing colors , motor etc.

OK I probably got a good deal

This is how it looked the day I went to look at it.
