all you have to do is read this thread. i told you earlier get a 1ton front a 14bff rear.

build traction bars instead of that weird swingy block thing.

and get the best tranny you can afford.

Re: 1980 chevy long bed!

Okay.

I see what you mean but even with traction bars the frame will hit the axle wont it
?

Re: 1980 chevy long bed!

no the traction bars catch the axle wrap and brace it against the leaf spring

All carbs have the same bottom right? So it does matter what manifold there is right?

Nope holley and carters have different "bolt patterns"

Re: 1980 chevy long bed!

So on the Wieland Intake.. Will a Edelbrock Carb fit on it?

jgh64pkup 12-25-2009 10:09 PM

Re: 1980 chevy long bed!

the edelbrock (carter) has both the quadrajet (spreadbore) bolt pattern and the 4150 holley (squarebore) pattern so it will fit on either pattern

Dudewith4x4 12-26-2009 01:11 AM

Re: 1980 chevy long bed!

So your saying it will but the quadrajet wont fit on the wieland.

jgh64pkup 12-26-2009 01:44 AM

Re: 1980 chevy long bed!

it depends which weiand is it
if it is a street warrior then yes it will work

Re: 1980 chevy long bed!

nope the quadrajet will not fit without an adapter
thats what im using for now until i get another carb and i have a performer rpm edelbrock intake

Dudewith4x4 12-26-2009 02:00 AM

Re: 1980 chevy long bed!

Should a 600 edelbrock carb fit on there?

jgh64pkup 12-26-2009 02:18 AM

Re: 1980 chevy long bed!

yep it sure will

Dudewith4x4 12-26-2009 02:19 AM

Re: 1980 chevy long bed!

Is there anyway to make sure a carb works without hooking it up.

jgh64pkup 12-26-2009 02:21 AM

Re: 1980 chevy long bed!

not really i would go through it though these edelbrocks are really easy

yes it will, it has both patterns.

you may need to lay a gasket on it to make sure the secondaries will clear the flange but a little time with a flad wheel or die grinder will solve that.
