Ready for a trip to the media blaster/painter tomorrow. Should be back this time next week. I'm trying hard to find a vendor to supply me with pre-bent brake and fuel lines so I can start the plumbing work next week. I've got several WTB ads up.

Re: 86 k 20 project "cletus"

Thanks for the suggestions. Well I had a little timeframe misunderstanding with my original sandblaster who was going to sandblast, prime, and paint the frame for about $700 (including a little metal fab frame work). I ended up having to take it to a bit more (by a bit I mean a lot) higher end place. I know they are going to do a great job, but it's going to set me back a full $1,000.

I'd love to do this myself, and save the money, but I work 2 jobs and have a lot of responsibilities outside of work and just don't have the time.

The media blaster should have the whole thing done and painted by this time next week. After that I'm going to take it to another guy who will replace all the bushings in the suspension. Then, I'll bring her home and start putting Humpty Dumpty back together again.

I ordered a bunch of stuff today. From LMC I ordered a body mount kit, fuel selector valve and switch, gas tank strap anti squeak thingies, and inner fender wells. From Classic tube I ordered a complete stainless brake line and fuel line set. Spending some bucks now, but I think it will look sharp.

So I had a couple hours yesterday and I polished up and painted my $125 Craigs list TH400 that can be seen in it's "Before" state in post #63 of this thread.

Here's the after: :metal:

I just got a call from the painter! The cab is done! I am going to pick it up tonight as well as drop of the last couple major components for him to paint (the hood and the bed).

I am thrilled to pick this cab up. I will hopefully have the frame back this week and start putting this bad boy back together. This project should really get rolling now!

And the last of them for now....

The last pic is a bit of a prank that was played on me. This past weekend was both my wedding anniversary and my birthday. My team decided to decorate my office in my absence. All you can see in the pic is my ear. Pretty funny.

Sure is. It was very dark and rainy here yesterday when I took the pics so they came out much darker than it actually appears on a clear day.

Its not a metallic is it? If so it will be hard to match the other panels to it.

Got the frame back from the media blaster/painter today. They coated it with something I've never heard of before called DEVTAR. You can see info on it here http://www.duspec.com/DuSpec2/produc...t=Get+Document

It is used on metal stuff that is immersed in salt water and rail cars in salt mines and stuff. I'm thinking it should stand up okay to the Central New York Road salt!

A couple more pics!

Also I have run into a challenge where I realized that my replacement 4x4 tranny has a tailshaft 1 1/2" longer than the one I'm pulling out. I posted a thread in the drivetrain forum looking for helpful suggestions. In case you guys didn't see that thread please let me know what options you feel you have. I know the first option is to swap out the tailshafts which entails completely dissassembling both trannys. I would rather not go to that extent.... Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
