Re: Project Swagger
What size tires and wheels in the first pics after media blasting? They look like Mickey Thompson classics? Any chance you're selling them now that you have the rallies?

Re: Project Swagger
The tangelo looks sick! Just from the parts, I'd say you have a great looking truck on your hands. Do you have plans for the steering wheel that is on your truck while it's in the body shop? My steering wheel looks a little too modern to be on my truck, but yours reminds me of the one I had in my 71 Buick GS.

Re: Project Swagger
I've been trying to find a good set of used tires on craigslist with no luck so I had to get some new ones. Got them mounted up this morning!

Re: Project Swagger
Matthew79 and Thor,
I'm the owner of that Jimmy now :). The rims are 24s and the tires are 37s. Down the road I may go down in size as there is a bit of rub on tight turns. Also the braking is horrible. I keep thinking about going to one ton but half the people i talk to say it won't make a difference. The look is a bit much for me as it goes against my old wheeling day roots and puts me in that street queen category, but I still love driving it. People stop me all the time to talk about it and the memories they have of their dad's or when they were younger, which adds to the fun of these trucks. I'm just about to buy that RetroSounds radio you had in earlier post. No tunes when you are cruising around blows. Let me know if you have problems with it. |

You need to start a thread with some detailed interior and exterior pictures in the jimmy/blazer's section so we can all drool over it :D |

I've read nothing but good things about the RetroSound radio so I'm sure it's going to work just fine but I'll let you know how I like it. :metal: |

Where are you located? Sorry if you said already in this thread, but I missed it. What did you do for speakers up front? Everyone else: Thanx for the compliments. Once I figure out the picture/post thing on this forum I will do a thread somewhere. |

I have those kick panels that hold a 6.5" speaker for up front. If you get those I should tell you that you have to be sure your speaker is pretty slim or they won't fit. I went through a few pairs before finding some Pioneers that were slim enough so I could mount the kick panels. I don't recall which model # Pioneers they were but I believe they were the most inexpensive ones you can get. I wasn't trying to cheap out but they fit! I think LMC sells a set that already has the speakers built in which would eliminate that problem. If I had your Jimmy I would get the kick panel speakers and get a pair of slim subs to fit under the front seats. I think LMC sells those too. I remember you have those nice scroll panels in the rear so I wouldn't cut those to install some speakers, but you could always get some 6x9 truck speaker boxes and put those behind the front seats. Personally I don't like the way that setup looks, but it would be a good option for some tunes and you can always easily remove them whenever you want for a clean look. |
Re: Project Swagger
Monday I'm sending my seat belts to python restoration to get restored. He says the turnaround time is about 4 weeks. Right now they're parchment, but I asked him to change them to black. Here's a before pic (obviously:)):
http://i779.photobucket.com/albums/y...ttachment4.jpg I've also been seriously considering adding some ghost flames. I've been told not to let a body/paint guy do flames if you want an awesome job but instead go to a shop where that's all they do. I love ghost flames but they aren't cheap! The places I spoke to said for what I want would run about $2500. I found a flame job on some Tangelo paint that isn't exactly "ghost" but it looks pretty nice to me: http://i779.photobucket.com/albums/y...r/100_0300.jpg My personal preference on flames is they need to be subtle. Here's some nice ghost flames and it's probably the look I prefer over the Tangelo one above: http://i779.photobucket.com/albums/y...achment1-1.jpg |
Re: Project Swagger
@Matthew79 - Boggers look sick! Those will look burly.
@Craigger007 - I met you a couple months ago while walking with my wife in our neighborhood. You stopped by your sister's house and left the Jimmy running in the driveway. I think both you, AND my wife, thought I was gonna hop in and never be seen again. Ha, ha. :) Nice to have met you and of course, gorgeous Jimmy! |
