Picked up a new to me trailer yesterday. 24ft lowboy with slide in ramps, 7k axles, 14 ply tires, brakes on both axles and a full metal floor. Hoping to fit the samurai in front that I'm building for my boy but it's going to be tight. Also the rear of the GMC is setting about 3 inches lower right now. After I broke a coil spring last time out I got a set of front tj springs that where suposed to be the same as what I had but they were a lighter spring. Made it set down on the bump stops just setting there. Now I'm trying to figure out what springs I had to begin with, must have been a after market spring.

Worked on a few things this weekend. First I reworked my rear suspension for a set of stock JK front coil springs to get me through this weekend. Just made the bottom of the spring slide so that maybe I won't break them. Forgot to get any pictures though.

Then I got my new steering cooler mounted inside the engine bay right behind the radiator. I has about an inch clearance from the pulleys.

Then I started building my hitch. Been needing a tow point on the back ever since I built the rig. I will eventually build a bumper around the hitch too.

Then I tucked her away until friday. We are heading out on a trip for the weekend. Should be fun, we have around 10 rigs going in just our group.

Finally got an update. Put my new coil springs on and got that all taken care of. And my new locking finally came in. Yukon 35 spline locking hubs. These things are 10x beefier than the warns. Going to install them tonight.

I love the pic’s. Those are some sweet hubs, I recall the first time I saw/heard a hub explode, it was an amazing site/sound.

I live about 8 miles from the Warn headquarters, I have known friends who worked for Warn over the past several years. But I can’t honestly say I know whether their Hub’s are still made in the USA (Oregon).

Anyone know ??

All I know is Warns design is not very good compared to these new Yukons. The teeth that lock the hubs up are entirely to small. The Yukons have a completely different design with a lot more teeth and meat in everything. Don't really think it would matter where the Warns were made when you compare the design diffences.

[I[/I]I agree with Ya', Warn hubs were never made to keep up with the torque delivered by both the HP & Huge tires (Spelled “traction”) of today’s rigs. Warn has missed the mark

They were great in their day: Warn hubs were made for the surplus WWII jeeps (that you could pick up for $35.00….. Not) I owned a 1952 M-151 top speed with hubs turned in was 35MPH and a hell of a lot mechanical hardware spinning. Warn was also known for their 2 speed overdrives, which allowed this same jeep to top out 50MPH freeway speed.

Just curious if these same parts are outsourced (mfg. over sea’s) ?

I run the normal cheap Warns on mine. I had the premiums in my Ranger and they were junk. Now that these are available, and looking at the design comparisons, this will be another item on the wish list

I just spoke with a new apprentice (co-worker of 1 ½ yr) he is a former worker from Warn. Asked him how much work was being shipped out. His reply is that a lot is being sent to Mexico and with the Warn family recently selling the company he expects a lot more to go offshore,

PS. He confirmed Yukon are better for rough use then Warn hubs were in the best of times

Picked up a new set of leaf springs from my buddy for the front of my rig. My old ones were worn out and bending backwards.

The new to me set has 2 extra leave in it that I left so that it will help with the extra weight of this rig and hopefully will keep them from bending backwards.

After the install I gained about 1.5 inches in lift on the fron witch I think I needed. It leveled the front out and will help with my tires hitting the fenders. Next will be to get my front bump stops installed and do something with my headlights so the tires don't hit them anymore.

I haven't changed any of the sheep metal on this one. Not sure if the grill is right or not. Finally had some time for an update though.

Decided to upgrade my headlights. I also was needing to get rid of the factory light mounts because when I would flex, with my tires turned, the tires would try to grab the metal backing plates behind the lights. So I bought some slim off road lights and made my own mounts and cut out all of the factory stuff.

Built a holder for my extra gas and water jugs. Now they won't be laying over leaking all the time and my friends will have easy access to them, sence they are always needing them!
