I ended up paying $100 for 2 about 2-3 years ago. Hard to find where I am.... And sometimes have to pay a little more. But, I did not have to drive far - 4 miles. So it was worth it.

I have 16.5x9.75 aftermarket spoke wheels...... didn't think 16.5s came as OEM in 9.75 width..... thought the widest were 8.25".

Got me curious now.... does anyone know for sure?

Re: Steel Wheeled 4x4's??

So the old 12.00-16.5 tires must have come as an OEM option, b/c that's the only size I can think of that would have fit 9.75 rims back then. Interesting..... I thought those (what was called 'flotation') tires were always aftermarket or dealer-installed. Never knew they were a factory option. Learn something every day on this board!

Re: Steel Wheeled 4x4's??

You know I'm not sure if they were dealer installed. I know they were called Kelsey Haynes wheels I got two sets that are exactly the same 16.5x9.75 5.5" backspace on one set of 4 I have a little ford oval stamped in them but are exactly them same as the other set. May be one someone else can chime in.

I have a set of Kelsey Hayes, they were manufactured as an after market rim (this is what I learned from a couple guys who have been dealing in these parts/trucks for years).

They are getting harder to find these days, tire option too. I'm hoping by the time I need tires, there will be more options. BFG was once offering their mud for a 16.5, I'm currently running the BFG A/T. I'd like to go with the mud next.

Unfortunately, with the exception of Interco, it seems as if the tire manufacturers are phasing out the 16.5s. I know BFG still makes the AT in 16.5 but I'm fairly certain they don't make the MT in 16.5 anymore. You can get 33" 16.5 Super Swamper SSR's though, they appear to be more of a mild variation of the SS.

Re: Steel Wheeled 4x4's??

You can still buy new 16x6 6lug and 9.75x16.5 8lug wheels. You can find these wheels on trailers as well as ag equipment.

Now 8.25 and 9.75 had 10.00 x 16.5 flotation , In all my info the 12.00x16.5 was never a option. My extra set of kh 9.75 are on STA 10.00x16.5 Super transport tires.

The fire trucks " Brush trucks " GM and ford that had 9.75 used 10.00x16.5 Super Trac ,Destone " sp" and the power kings. They may have used the 12.00x16.5 on brush trucks but as of now that's all the info I have.

See " Brush Fire " thread http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=442259

i like the way joesjunks trucks look. If I have a 4x4 it'll get that treatment. I also like these with no caps.
