I had a '67 I had stripped and primed along with the other three, but no good color for it. I just picked up a can of satin burgundy thinking it would look like old vermillion that came on these trucks. I dunno, something about the white tops creates a more realistic vibe. Any Custom 69s or these 67 C10s leave something to be desired...boring I guess. Now that I've painted a negative picture, what do you think?

It looks more raspberry than faded burgundy. It has a fawn interior with black floor. There's more detail in the interior than exterior. I'd like to make a tonneau cover for this one, maybe in fawn to look like a Gaylord's cover. They could all use better wheels.
I want to start looking for Real Riders donors. I just bought three Custom 62s someone else did. I like the straight out of the package ones with better wheels, but also want them on custom painted ones. I want some stock looking tires & wheels, too. Greenlights are a bit pricey to be buying as wheel donors. Here are the three I bought. They sure do look better with better wheels & tires: |

Here's some wheelswaps I did; not all pickups. All are re-assembled with screws.

Re: Pic Thread: Customized Hot Wheels, etc
Cool cars, but those Square bodies look so great with those paint jobs on 4wd chassis with aluminum slots!

I've seen that black panel posted somewhere on Facebook. That firetruck is killer!

Re: Pic Thread: Customized Hot Wheels, etc
Aren't those cool? One day I hope to have nothing better to do than be sitting down to a workbench making creations like that

Re: Pic Thread: Customized Hot Wheels, etc
A couple years ago I started doing wheel swaps after my cousin made a Nova HotWheel for me that looked like my old one from high school.

Re: Pic Thread: Customized Hot Wheels, etc
Those look great. The Real Riders kick these trucks up a notch or two for sure.

Put the signs on the ceiling...hahaha. The '52 that you might find in the store now is a zamac with red wheels and same graphics as on that baby blue one or the red one as shown on the package the black custom job is in. hey, I know. How about I show a picture??

Re: Pic Thread: Customized Hot Wheels, etc
K ,my shop dont have ceilings ,just open rafters .

Re: Pic Thread: Customized Hot Wheels, etc
I'm sure you could find a way to make that work
|
Re: Pic Thread: Customized Hot Wheels, etc
I had actually planned on ceilings in it but I ran out of money due to playing with too many cars and trucks .It may still happen someday but Im planning another shop first .

Those are very nice .

Re: Pic Thread: Customized Hot Wheels, etc
Really fine, Mike. I have a thing for those stock looking paint jobs. They seem to give an added level of realism for me. Your two-tone scheme is just how I always felt GM should have done it on the front fenders

Here's a simple wheel swap I did on the 67 custom. I've got one in the paint process now. Just need time to finish it. I have a 62 I'm doing too. I just can't decide on a color for this one. I may try a patina look.
