Re: 1972 Blazer "SPECIAL EDITION" factory 396?
I hope no one gets taken by this guy. Needless to say there are plenty of examples of this on Craigslist.

I just really wonder whether people are that ignorant or just that willing to lie. Scary in either case.

I'm sure with people letting him know he's full of it he is probably second guessing the validity of his claim. Non the less I don't see a picture of the spid and I doubt he will post it on the ad.

Re: 1972 Blazer "SPECIAL EDITION" factory 396?
I'm not sure how I missed all the latest action! I drove by today and saw it all the way out of the garage. With the for sale sign in the window. I called to talk with him last night. Turns out this Blazer belonged to his father in law. These guys got told the big 1 of 400 story. I feel bad for him. He knows now... Anyway it's in way worse shape than I thought. Last summer it was parked where I couldn't see the passenger side. It looked really clean and nice. It's still a nice blazer. But it needs usual rust repair and paint. I love the custom spid with 396 moter on it. I spit my orange juice all over the place when I saw that!!!!
And yes on the cold ones with anybody on here! |

It's back.....................................
A more honest ad this time IMO, still think he's a bit high on the price, but it has a lot of potential, so someone my be willing to pay it. http://portland.craigslist.org/nco/cto/5463824969.html |

Re: 1972 Blazer "SPECIAL EDITION" factory 396?
I would like to buy that. I can't see going more than $7000 for it. Am I way off on that?

Re: 1972 Blazer "SPECIAL EDITION" factory 396?
If ya waved $7000 cash, he'll probably bite IMO

Re: 1972 Blazer "SPECIAL EDITION" factory 396?
I saw a triple black CST one at a car show in Washington MO about 15 years ago. The owner said he special ordered it and then swapped out the axles for 3/4 ton. The 396 fender emblems is what first drew my attention. The interior seats were also swapped out for some high back buckets.

Re: 1972 Blazer "SPECIAL EDITION" factory 396?
I know its been a couple years since this thread started, but I thought I would give some info. The Blazer in this thread is still for sale. I went and looked at it, and it definitely has some issues. It's a decent rig if your looking for a body off resto though. I made an offer to the guy, even after doing research and seeing this thread. When it came time to buy it, he brought out a title from Wyoming that wasn't in his name. The back of the title was filled out by the apparently deceased former owners, but had lines through their signatures. The title also notes that it has to be signed in front of a notary public, which it was not. Next to the crossed out signature of the former female registered owner, was her signature a second time. I'm a police officer and deal with scams all the time. The second signature was obviously forged and had a different sale date. I walked away from the sale. I know this wasn't a special 72 Blazer, but it was still in decent condition to rebuild. It pisses me off that someone would try to sell something knowing full well it would take years of legal litigation for the new owner to get in their name.

Most states have error forms and with a notarized statement to the effect
That the sale.fell through or signed in wrong place I could breeze right through The dmv here. |

Re: 1972 Blazer "SPECIAL EDITION" factory 396?
It would be pretty hard to get a notarized statement from dead people. Unless you mean SC will accept a notarized statement from you. That would be pretty thin protection for any legal owners whose title had been duplicated or stolen.

Re: 1972 Blazer "SPECIAL EDITION" factory 396?
Having just read and enjoyed this thread, the first thing that pops into my head is the guy knows or suspects that it is stolen or at the least was "borrowed" by a family member and was reported to the local PD. Thus his attitude about looking at it. Right now my money is on that it's mildewing away in Astoria. No title no deal. :waah:
