New mirror came in and is working great. I'll get some pictures eventually. Catastrophe has struck, however! The 227K transmission is dead. Decided to go out without warning on the way to St Joe yesterday. Had enough left to roll onto the trailer in 4 low. Reverse and a couple of forward gears are toast.

This forces my hand a bit. My new shop is about 85% complete, and the lift hasn't even been ordered. I had intended to do this all together when I had the replacements ready to go and functionin shop. No dice. So I started reading about LS swaps and the ease molding the 96-98 GMT400 to the LS Blue/Green harness. Might be going this route instead of a SBC. Not going to do the tranny without the engine, and I just bought a 6.0L/4L80E for my 1949 1 ton GMC, so that cuts into the fun engine funds. I can do a 5.3 and upgraded 4L60E on the cheap and have a DD reliable rig in no time.

Devin, you are not going to like this post...just getting that out there.

I have made a corporate decision on the pickup front. I've decided to fix the tranny and sell it. Friday I brought home a 2010 2500HD crew cab with a 6.0L/6L90E combo, and I'm not going to lie, I like it. It has every option I wanted, and it's a white Z71 of course.

With the direction I'm headed with Aces High Speed Shop, I need something a little more heavy duty, and it gives me the opportunity to build my great granddad's old 1 ton into a hotrod and not a trailer puller.

More details to follow on the 1998 as the tranny is fixed and it's prepped for its new owner.

Everything is scheduled for the tranny swap on Thursday. Should have it rolling under its own power again by Friday morning.

Tranny swap is a success. Pickup is back running and driving well. Lots of tire kickers offering $3500, haha.

Might just have to keep it as a daily driver. We'll see!
