Not only not taking 10 minutes to clean out the cab, I always think it's crazy when the bed has 15 years of compost in it & they say it has a "good bed"- how would they know what the floor looks like? It hasn't seen daylight forever. The "restored" term is funny too- I often want to ask if that means they've put the vehicle in storage multiple times because it sure doesn't look like a "restored" vehicle to me

95% restored is what they say to be more honest by admitting there's still a thing or two left to do. I've walked away from so many of those with my last words being, "That's a big 5%!"

I like when they threaten to scrap a car of it doesn't sell by a certain date. If it's that close to being scrap, then that's probably what it's worth.

I've never understood this one either... this is a pretty funny thread.

I just read this the other day, as stated by the flipper:

"...with only 68,000 miles showing on the odometer. I can't guarantee it hasn't flipped, but the previous owner said he didn't think it had"

I ALLWAYS consider that as BULL.

Even if it were true, original owner is One (1), flipper is Two (2) and now you would be the Third (3) owner.

The reality is that now, it's a THREE OWNER truck.

The only thing that is really important is the condition of the truck and how much you like it.

That happened to me - my truck was a one-owner truck that served 40 years or so in CA, when he died the estate sold it to a guy I bought it from... but I didn't -believe- it until I talked with the family of the original owner, and that's the difference I guess!

So it's possible, but I'd rarely believe it in an ad.

One other thing ,,,, when someone lists an item for sale and then will not respond to any communication !

2X!

How about ads that misuse all forms of the word sale, for sell, sold and even sail and sailed?

Price: best offer

You've put it out for sale without a price, pal? Ok, I'm your huckleberry.

Start at $100 and go up in $100 increments seems to be the only way to handle this as a buyer

Well they are acknowledging the fact it has A/C mine doesn't even have a radio let alone A/C (It does come with a pretty awesome ambient heating system as even with the heater off it blows hot, I actually take my whole heater out in the summer)

Lots of great and funny comments on this thread!
All true too!
Another thing that bothers me is---"Texts only".
I don't text! Period!
And,then, when there's a convertible for sale, the ad usually will say-"Power top".Most come with power tops at no extra cost,if you buy the convertible.
Except a M.G. I once owned,it was manual.
When I sell something,I go to extremes to point out every little detail so no one feels like I'm lying or trying to hide anything. They usually don't read the ad well and still ask questions I've already answered. It's really agrivating!
Then, there's the usual B.S.from tire kickers-Let me ask my wife,I'm looking for a friend, and ,the worst-Find the shipping amount for me and I'll let you know what I want to do.I give them my zip code to look for themselves!
And,finally-Can you send me a lot of pictures of it?i probably won't buy it but I've wasted your time!

Re: Things that annoy: "AC Works, but"

One of my most annoying things when selling is someone responds to an ad and asks "What's the best you can do?". I did my best to price it when I posted the ad! Now prices can be negotiable, but not at this point. That's why I always respond with, "You need to come look it over and tell me why you think it's worth less. You just might find yourself wondering why I'm not asking more"

Oh yes, as a seller this is my number one annoyance. I always list my price as what I think is fair and state that it is firm but it doesn't matter how you list the price, you still get people who will ask this.

Buyers too can be annoying. I spent an hour on the phone Thursday with a potential buyer, he call back Saturday and I spend another :30 min going over the truck and answering his questions. He says he wants to buy the truck and we wil do a wire transfer of the funds on Monday morning. Sunday morning I get a 3 paragraph text that he has changed him mind and no longer wants to buy the truck. He Paypaled me back my EBay listing fee for ending my auction early.

I had a car for sale on Craigslist, a guy really really wanted it - to the point that he begged me to be available on a Friday to show it. He didn't show. A couple weeks later, it sold without the fiberglass bumpers. He emailed and wanted to buy them.... I was not receptive to selling to him (they're still on my wall in my shop). On one hand, I admire the boldness to ask - but on the other hand, the utter stupidity because if I was a bad person I'd have invited him to some really unsafe location the let the local youth group know that some guy is carrying a lot of cash in their area.....

The picture helps? I'd say in this case, leaving it up to a buyer's imagination would work better than a picture. "Briar patch find!"

I just sold an item on ebay. The auction Specifically stated local pickup only in 4 different locations. I'm in northern California. I just got an email from the winning bidder asking if I could arrange shipping to Kent Wa!?!?!?

My Responce:
The e-bay auction specifically stated "Local Pickup Only". That being said, if you would like to arrange shipping for your self, It will be shipped from 95687. After receiving payment, I will take it to either a UPS hub or a Fedex hub that YOU have made arrangements with and drop it off. The shipping weight will be around 80 lbs and the dimensions are approximately 16"x16"x40".
