Re: Company Trucks
Nate, cool cant wait to see it unfold.
69- for fauxtina I'd say airbrushing would be the best bet, and or use atleast 3 different colors of spray paint to simulate paint and rust. Also if those are your fenders, my hood wouldn't match. Mine is just stock dark green that these trucks ran. |
Re: Company Trucks
99 that is just one of my extras. I was playing with some chemicals and other stuff to see how they reacted. I'm looking for sea foam green parts.

Progress on my end has been slow. So no pictures on my end. However seeing how everyone likes pictures Nate has produced some of the frame progress.
Tell us what you think. |
Re: Company Trucks
that front clip is looking beast mode. Luv the pic with all the engines in the BG, cool pic and great progress, even though it's someone else progress its still yours!

Re: Company Trucks
Lookin' good Bryce!

Re: Company Trucks
Did you use CLR to rub the fender? I have been trying CLR with zero luck. Diluted, non-diluted, with and without scotch brite pads. I can't get the results I see everybody else getting.
|
Re: Company Trucks
LEEVON, the fender in the picture was just using straight buffing compound with a variable speed polisher and wool wheel. I used different speeds, let it dry then dry buffed. I tried different methods on other fenders but the end result was almost the same as with just the buffing compound. It was a fairly aggressive compound though.
Hope that helps. |
Re: Company Trucks
Thanks, hadn't thought about going that route. Looking good!

Well my ADHD has kicked in and I started a small fun project. Went and picked up a 6.5 hp harbor freight special, some chromoly tubing, stopped by the local karting shop and got some goodies. Bam the makings of a motorized #drifttrike. I saw this in hotrod magazine and thought it looked cool. Anyway should have some truck updates soon.

Re: Company Trucks
Haha you got me googling drift bikes and motorized trikes...even searching craigslist for parts, thanks alot! Keep us posted on the distraction please.
|
Re: Company Trucks
Look on YouTube. Here is one example.
Didn't mean to side track you. I thought it was just me that always seems to find another project before I finish the last one. LOL |
Re: Company Trucks
Love the new project. Ha.
Can I ask what a going rate it for the kart wheels and tires? I've have a project on the back burner but haven't pulled the plug on the wheels and tires. Also which shop did you go to in the kc area? |
Re: Company Trucks
69CST-V, THAT LOOKS FUN AS HELL!!! You will have to keep posting pictures as you build it.
superflysteiny, You need to build the 55. I love to watch your builds and would love to see what you would do to an AD. Just tell the wife , boy I am going to miss you! Joking of course. Shannon |

Oh and I went to Russell Karting. They had everything in stock so I paid a little more to solve my inability to wait. LOL What's your back burner project? Motorized pedal car or something cool like that? |
Re: Company Trucks
For all the guys (and girls in my kids case) that had Big Wheels. Daughters were absolutely fearless; especially on hills. I remember always replacing the wheels on them. I remember renting similar setups for the Oregon dunes in the 60's before ATV were manufactured. They only had a 4 horse briggs engine but were still fun.

Re: Company Trucks
those are hilarious, i'd love to have one too. Reminds me of go cart days as a kid. Wipe outs were plentiful.

Ok since its my thread I will be high jacking it from time to time as I don't intend on doing a full blown Alternate Tinkering thread. Spent the last night drawing the first renderings of the Drift Trike. There has been tons of interest so I thought I would share my concept. I have a lot more but this will give you an idea of what I'm doing.

All right as many of you know SEMA is fast approaching. Nate and the guys at Poterbuilt have been putting in the overtime and still managed to put some time in on the beaters. Looking good.

Re: Company Trucks
Luv it, how much is this racking you!!

Did you say if you were going to drive the rear wheels or front with the engine? I've considered doing the front wheel. I have a blueprinted, roller bearing, .030 over 5hp Briggs in my garage from my kart racing days. It's an old Uncle Frank's engine. During the last freshening, it dyno'd 10.5 horse at 6600 rpms. Top speed on the banked 1/8th mile I raced was just about 70 mph. It would be too much motor to drive the rear wheels - it would just spin the PVC tubes - and I think it might be too much for the front wheel, too. If it turned a 12" wheel to 70, think how fast it would turn a 20" wheel! I'd best be wearing full leathers and a full face helmet. |

On a side note, you seem to have rocked SEMA. Tootsie is all over the web. It's a really clean and masterful piece. You know how to build to the next level. Hope to see it in person someday soon. Congrats on the truck but more than that glad to hear about your mom. |

Very nice...Jim
