Thanks, Martyz! I also got your pm; I'll let you know what I find out.

You can get those thru a local dealer. I would call frontier glass and ask to talk to Sam Slater. He is the owner and see if he can help out. If he can't let me know and I can make a few calls.

I would like to help out myself, please let me know the color code you decide on painting the truck and I'll furnish all the PPG paint and clear. Just let me know.......Thanks

Hi 198plus. I have asked the instructors to have the students go by the local PPG dealer (Hi-Tec Auto Body Supply Company) to check out color selections so we can have some color codes for you early in the Fall. The school year ends next month here, and I dropped off primer and hardener at the school yesterday. Hopefully over the summer they can narrow down choices. Thanks!

I got an email from the auto body instructor today. The kids are working on reinforcing the truck bed to prep it for new wood. He is going to forward photos for me, so I will post pics when I get some.

We raised over $1200 at the Zane's Ride bake sale last week! How cool is that! This week, I am giving a pizza party to the kids working on the truck to thank them, so I will have pics to post.

Sorry I have not posted for a while!. I have pics from the bake sale and pizza party to post and will probably do that this weekend. My husband does the posting for me, and now he works 6 days a week. He is off Monday, so we will get it done! Also, an update story will be in our local paper soon, and I will post a link so you can see that also.

Hey Zanes Mom, my "guy" is working on the glove box badges, it is quite labour intensive for him as he has to draw it all into the program, and it is a gazillion straight lines to get the nice smooth curvy lines! Will get in touch for mailing information once he is done.

Glove Box Badge is done, needs the edges smoothed, a couple of spots need some attention, PJ couldn't get the material out of the holes on the "s" and the "e", and will need to be carefully polished.

I can put this in the mail if you PM me the address, or if someone else following says, "hey, I can do the smoothing, tweeking, and polishing" I could send it to them. Material is stainless steel. That is a pic of PJ, thanks PJ!!!

Car Wash on July 21 at the school doing the work on the truck; plus a 'mini' bake sale, I think. I will get pics and post them!

Sorry I haven't posted in a while! The carwash was a big success - over $600! School starts again on 8/22, so the project can get underway once again. Has the server upgrade been completed? Hope you have all been having a good Summer.

Hey, all! Sorry it has been so long since I posted; had to wait for the school year to get started again, and the new students to the program had to have shop safety and rules, etc. Restart of the project involves sandblasting and priming the frame, getting ready to clean and rebuild the engine/transmission, and prepare for brake system installation. I also received a donation from a Mining company for $1000! Next, I am going to talk to local businesses about windshield and upholstery, and I am going to have a chili feed in early November. I am going by the school today to see if I can talk to the teachers, and get any other info.

Did you ever get those badges cleaned up?

A jeweler could easily do that for you and if you can't find one let me know and I will gladly do it for you.

Re: Zane's Ride

So I checked on the project today! Have some photos to post this weekend. The frame has been pressure washed, and will be sandblasted and primed/powdercoated. Then work will progress on the brakes and engine rebuild. Paint on bedliner was applied to the cab floor, the bed was squared up, some rust repair has been done. The auto body instructor expects that they will get the truck painted this year, and possibly begin some work on the wood bed. A student in the communications track is going to do a student news report, which will also air on a local tv station (a copy of which I am going to send to Make-A-Wish). Also, after the chili feed I will have more photos to post.

Hey, craigerrr, did you ever get a reply from someone to polish the glove box badge? If not, I can probably find someone local to do it. Let me know. Thanks!

I have been very busy and I had not seen this thread. It is so great to hear about this project and the wonderful young man who it is a memorial for. I have truely enjoyed reading about this project and seeing how the high school students are getting to build it and put all of the donated parts together. All of you who are helping out, thanks, and God bless you. Zane's Mom, your son would have been a wonderful person to know. Keep up the awesome work fundraising and getting this project to completion.

Thank you, C@rnut001! Working on this project has really helped me deal with losing him, putting the energy into something positive. I am going to post photos from the school and the chili feed in the next couple of days. We raised another $600 on Friday!! You can also check out Zane's Ride on facebook.

Okay! I just created a paypal account (some of you have asked if I accept donations this way). I had honestly not thought of it before. My email is elliem66@hotmail.com. I have to verify the account link in a day or so. Thank you everyone for your interest and support, and for your collective knowledge and expertise/advice on the restoration! I am very grateful!
