Orrie looking really good!!!! --- another truck coming into final fruition! great Job ;)

We should maybe try and plan a get together for the guys completing trucks every year... like a "Graduation Class of 2017" I think this is going to be a big 'class' this year!

Orrie,
I like your light and vent, can you tell me what they came from? I'm not sure I'll put my AC vent there but pretty sure I WILL put some kind of floor illumination - probably old fashioned half-chrome-shaded license plate lights.

Courtesy light is from a 64 olds starfire sail panel. Was just the first one I came across, most mid 60's GM cars had one back there. Lense was hard to find but found other gm model was same diameter and works. AC outlet is from 2010ish ford mustang, F150 trucks are similar. I got the idea from SGTUSMC, he used them in his truck mounted in the dash. I had to modify the back to accept the ac hose. Its a tight fit but does run under the end of the dash. I have ran the ac heat fan and it gets plenty of air, I thought it might be more restricted.

Thanks decided last night to just hang the doors without glass mech and channels installed so paint will look better. Also forgot to mention did the last bit of body work from bed side falling onto my drill press during removal. Only took a few minutes with a bumping and picking hammer, then a thin skim of plastic. Luckily did not damage the spear center raised line, that is a ***** to get looking right.

I think I remember the AC vents being from a Mustang. I'm thinking of using the old fashioned 1" diameter half chrome/half lenses license plate lights for lighting the floor. I saw them in another truck somewhere and thought they looked good and were unobtrusive.

Got the radio antenna installed, cheap O Riellys Raptor unit. Mounted it up high under the cab/step intersection. Made a bracket at the head end, slipped the antenna thru some 1/2" plastic tubing and zip ties it to the step brace (red circle) and same at end (not shown). Thanks to other for suggestions. Works great in the garage.Tubing keeps it from potential grounding which is a no-no. Sorry for crappy photo, shiney parts reflected to much flash light.

OrrieG

The photo shows the anterial and a cooler. The cooler is for engine, or tranny?

Will the anterial work in this location? AM & FM? Great idea, your build is going great, getting closer..

Keep on keepin on

Tranny cooler here is a pic of the complete install. Installed a tee to monitor temps. Antenna works great sitting in the shop, will need to see how it does on the roll.

Just a post to let everyone know I did not die, just had a pretty good work opportunity to make up for 2010-15 and been putting in long hours all year. Did want to comment that the previous pic of the trans cooler does not show the hoses. I installed them from the cooler directly to the trans inlet and outlet locations. The cooler sits higher than the the trans. Mid summer I got the new carb on and truck running and topped off the trans fluid with it running and warm. A couple of days later I came out to a big puddle of fluid under the truck. Checked the level and it was ok. Investigation shows it leaked from around the filler tube area. I think what happened is the cooler and line drained back into the tranny filling it above the tube. I am going to redo the rubber connection lines with bow up above the cooler which should solve the problem.

Well cleared out the garage for the next task. Going to assemble the doors. Got the trans hoses changed so they will not drain back into the pan. Verified some wiring I was stressing about, turned out good notes and OCD completing the task when I was doing it made it ok. Been super busy with work and life last year so truck progress has suffered, but ticked some things off the bucket list that made up for it.

Trans cooler mounted under the passenger step with room for a fan above if over heating is an issue. It is the same one I ran in front of the radiator. Antenna work great sitting in the garage, used same idea as Ogre, so I am optimistic it will work on the fly.

I didn't realize you were using the Ogre antenna install plan....if its good enough for Ogre and Orrie then that's what im gonna do on my IH build as well...good to know it works...that makes several builds now ive seen using this approach...

Thanks Jim. When I first started here I got a lot of help from guys that did detailed threads and figured I would pass it forward.

My work life and cleaning up my Dad's estate has taken over the last 18 months or so. I have had the opportunity to try and make up for the 3-4 years before and have been pushing really hard. Plan is to get the current stuff done, then throttle back and push on the truck. Its the old time or money deal.

Installed rubber and mounted the fenders, grille surround and bumper valence. Used fender rubber kit from Classic Parts, I think the pieces for between the fender and inner fender are based on 55-57 bolt pattern, only two matched on mine. Not a big deal I just used contact cement to keep them in place, cut holes in the correct location and moved on. I used the flexible house window sealant between the grille surround and fender, stays flexible and should reduce squeaks and rattles. Glad I spent the time to prefit everything before, I remember taking days to get everything to line up and gaps right, this time only had a couple of places I needed to tweak.

Working on the doors, but put the headlight buckets on when I came across them in the "to do" tub. All new wiring and adjusters. Plugged in the lights and they work as intended. When I pulled the connectors off the lights three of the brass parts to the lamp broke off (you can see one in the photo still in the connector) so I need to get new lamps.
