Dennis , Just ship it to me it is closer here than way over to Dave's .. I could find a new motor.. I'll send him a water bucket :uhmk:
My little 2 hp compressor got so stiff in the cold it would smoke the belts and not turn. I had to drain the oil and put in 5w30 motor oil just to get it running.. I need a new compressor badly as I have not even started the body work yet..:waah:

I have been watching Craigslist lately and stopped in at Lowes and Home depot. Hoping to find something reasonable.

My buddy has three small compressors and a Big storage tank in addition to the small on board tanks. He has a set of manifold valves so when he is blasting or needing a lot of air , he just runs all three at the same time. , or he can run one independently for light useage.
I suppose it would be cheaper than buying 1 big compressor.
I will have to get out the checkbook before I can start the body work:waah:

yup friend of mine done something simulair with a home supply propane tank , he set the compressor running in the morning and the tank was filled to capacity in the evening
he used to be able to paint a complete car on one filling without anoying the neighbours with a running compressor at 1 in the morning , gives a verry even flow a running compressor can give pulses in the airflow and more moistness in the air

onewayvalves would work eazier than manifold valves , just set the 3 pressure switches at three pressurelevels low medium and high (all mounted in the maintank or the manifold ) and the compressors only come online when the one(s) running can't cope with the flow

I'm thinking of mounting the old 60 gallon tank outside the shop, and connect it to the main tank inside. That would give me 140 gallons. :metal:

Still not sure Norm. The only thing I don't like about the Cragers is the 16" in the rear. I wish they were all 15".

I dont think my 480C's would work after filling up that tank once. Heck I already have a 3gal, 5gal, and 7 gal tank. Maybe I could make it into a fuel tank. that's what I need before I can work on it.

We're talking about the one up here in the High Desert. Larry Watson used to hang out there before he passed away.

I belong to Wild West Corvettes, and they usually announce it at the meetings. We would like to see Tom's do a cruise night again. That one kind of died.

No, the one on Bear Valley. It was on Wednesday nights.

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up

Finally got some work done on the truck. I filled the hole in the door and fit the Impala door handles.

I had a badly damage hood from a 50 Chevy Truck that I used part of for the fill panel. The curvature was perfect as it was the same as the doors shape.
Just to remind you this is what I started with.

http://belair.smugmug.com/Other/1965...70_bhcDF-L.jpg

I made a templet from some thin cardboard, then duplicated it with the panel I cut from the damaged hood.

Here's the hood that I cut.

http://belair.smugmug.com/Other/1965...76_LskfX-L.jpg

I cut a hole on the metal using the handle gasket as a templet. I used a level to make sure the handle will sit correctly.

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up

Then I trimmed the panel smaller, and kept everything level. This is it after I gave it a few tack welds. If I do too many tacks at a time I'll warp the skin around the handle.

http://belair.smugmug.com/Other/1965...18_W3K4K-L.jpg

Then I did a final fit with the handle.

http://belair.smugmug.com/Other/1965...38_MszJG-L.jpg

http://belair.smugmug.com/Other/1965...69_HTsad-L.jpg

This is it from the inside. Now I have to finish the tack welds, and make some linkage.
