Finished up installing the steering wheel and gear indicator. The wheel is a 48 mated to the 82 Eldo column. Horn button even works! Indicator is mid 60's chevrolet, but with an aftermarket TH350 pattern instead of Powerglide. I did not like the gunsight indicator so made my own bowtie out of 1/4" plexiglas. It has day glow paint on each side of the indicator line so I will be able to see it at night.

Got the grille and bumpers painted. Bombay Ivory, stock color, used single stage 2K. took 2 days to clean the garage, 2 hours to paint! Now I need to figure out the best wall to paint the grille lettering.

Re: Lurker OrrieG Progress Pics
Nice to see some new pics. The grill looks great, and the nice thing about painting something is that you can see progress when you finish. The whole truck is looking good.

I've been away from the site a few years. I thought you would have been finished by now, but glad to see you are still making progress. It looks great!

Re: Lurker OrrieG Progress Pics
Did you do the edge binding on the carpets yourself?

Did you shrink the wheel diameter smaller? Kind of looks like you did in the photos. Maybe you posted the process and I missed it but if not and you have photos, please enlighten us. Thanks, Dan |

Re: Lurker OrrieG Progress Pics
Orrie: I was wandering back thru your build looking at some of your finish detail work. Post 1027 shows you carpet and mats which look really good. How did you bind the exposed edges? Thanks...dug

Re: Lurker OrrieG Progress Pics
I used a product called Insta bind, here is an install video. Local auto interior shops wanted to much money to sew it onto my carpet. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CXJTxOyZO8I

Installed the fire extinguisher behind the driver seat. 5# commercial model with metal head so it can be recharged if it get low. Getting ready to do the bed wood, going to use ash and mill it myself. Noticed I need to do something about that shiny screw and washer on the seat too.
