Thanks guys. I like the dash too. I would like it to have air pressure rather than vac but I'll use it like it is. I don't know if I posted this or not but I found another swb frame for this project. The one it sits on right now has a spot that I'm not sure about. I am still deciding how far to take it down for cleaning and painting. I have a sandblaster that I haven't used yet. I also found that a spraycan gasket remover works very well especially when it pressure washed off. I got it down to the black paint on the frame. The frame had been blasted but not taken apart. The part where the cab was wasn't blasted all the way. I used this gasket remover and pressure washer technique there and it worked well. I just ran out. I'll post some pics after I get farther along and the new owner of the stepside takes it home. Then I'll have some room.

Yeah sandblasting sure does clean it up nice but I'm not sure that this one needs it. Its pretty clean other than a few spots that are hard to get to. I think I'll try to take it apart and clean it up, paint it and put it back together. The frame is not very dirty or rusty. Just a little surface rust here and there. I came home today and took off some un-needed stuff. the crossbar at the rear for the spare tire mount. (gonna put the tank from the burb frame in there). The clutch pivot bracket, and the exhaust hangers that someone welded to the frame. I also took the brake lines and fuel lines off all in one piece. I left the hangers on them so I wouldn't lose them lol. I am possibly going to use the lines off of the burb frame since the it had 79K mi. I also will likely use the fuel lines after I look at them.
I cleaned it a little more with the gasket remover and pressure washer. I'm gonna try to wire wheel and sand it soon. Well, this morning I took the wire wheel to what you see above (where the cab sits)and got the black paint off and the rest of the grime that was under the frame. It took longer than I thought it would. Or I'm getting old. Got it primed. I'll take the frontend off later and clean all that up. still deciding on drop.

looks pretty good, i just did the same thing this last week. I used black undercoating for mine. I had to take off the front suspension and trailing arms to flip the frame over. there are a lot of nooks and crannies everywhere on the frame.

I'll have to take the front and rear off too. I just didn't want to do it this weekend as I'm leaving tomorrow to go out of town and my basement is already a mess. Someone already blasted this frame but they only got what you can see topside. And all the little nooks and crannys on the front are still greasy.Primed,but greasy lol.

i used a lot of oven cleaner to get mine all clean. it really cuts through the grease and grime. then just hit it with the hose and its all clean. took me a lot of passes but i got a clean frame now. the wire wheel helped too.

I used a couple cans of gasket remover. Its expensive so I might try the oven cleaner. Which kind works best?

This is the current state of the truck. The frame it was on is going to scrap. I sold the rear and trailing arms from it. I will finish the cleaning and painting of the other frame and get the cab put on soon.

I got a tilt column off of ebay. And I got the cpp brake booster,master cyl. and prop. valve in today. Just hung it on the cab to keep it out of the way. Heres a before and after. Looks a little better huh?
