That fresh air draw from the exhaust manifold to air cleaner is something I've never seen before. Is this modified (doesn't look like it) or a different exhaust manifold altogether??

This stove pipe is not the original one from my truck but it did have one very similar back in the day. I got this one from a 69 camaro and the air cleaner. The horn of the air cleaner has a larger opening and sits more at 5 o'clock we're my original sat at 4 o'clock.

Anyone know where I can get an air filter assembly for my IL 6 Cylinder?

Watch the parts section , I found one for $10.00 + shipping . Media blasted it and after a few coats of high build primer it looks brand new .

It depends on which one you want ~ the big off set truck one is out there but hard to find as no one wants them so they gets tossed aside or damaged

The flat typ as used on Chevy II's , Camaros , Malibus and full size sedans , are also out there and often cheap .

I have a few but they're a bit rusty , once I get access to a bead blaster I'll clean and strip them then sell off .

Same air cleaners interchange between 194 , 230 , 250 and 292 CID engines with the later Rochester carby (?) BC series IIRC .

Hey do you know where I can get an Air Filter Assembly like yours. I have been looking for one like 6 months. I cant even drive my 1970 c10 IL 6 250 because I have no air filter assembly. Any help would be appreciated.

This is not to say a fibreglas/plastic fan shroud from an SBC set up wouldn't fit in that spot.
As far as the clutch fan idea, it might work out OK. I've been using a FlexFan on my 292 since 1977 and have not had a problem yet. [And I live in Ariz.]

I have a 69 C-10 that I bought in CA with the 250/ 3 speed auto. It has a fan shroud and a 3 core radiator, looks original to me, no heating problems. I removed the smog control and installed PS. I'm currently rebuilding a 292 for it and I need thermostat housing for it. I need one where the top rad hose points towards the drivers fender, not straight up. Would you by any chance have one? Thanks, Donn

Not in a truck but wouldn't that be cool?

What is it? Looks like maybe a Vortec 4.2, but the early '60s oil filler tube/breather cap throws me. Also looks like a Pontiac Catalina/GTO nose, w/ Sprint badge. So is it an El Cabrito? [Sp. for '' little goat''] Some might contend that it is a truck, then.
Can't read the numerals on the fender badge.

Yes, something like that. Is there a place there for the temp sending unit? Does it take the larger hose, meaning bigger around?

Since I was not the one to dig up this thread, I'll add to it.

Air cleaner has been replaced and looks much better now.

Well, yes and no. The stock Chevy Thermostat Housing is made from cast aluminum. Stock OEM form, it has no hole for a temp probe. My original piece broke, once when I overtightened it. I went to Pep Boys and showed them the broken part. They didn't have anything like that for a [then] 25 year old Chevy L6. But, the parts guy started looking around amongst other makes and found a Thermostat Housing from [I think] a Toyota Landcruiser that had the big ''I-6'' 2F 4.2 Liter. (It was a clone of the old Chevy 261 L6 -- a Korean War logistics expedient, that stayed).
The Toyota housing is made of cast iron, fits the same, and does have a port for a temperature probe.
Hoses fit, no issues.
Moral of the story: Chevys have L6s, Ford and Toyota call it an I-6.

It's a Pontiac OHC6, based on the Chevy 230 block.

I didn't catch that at first. Yes, the Pass side motor mount is forward of the fuel pump.
That yellow '68 C/20 also has a strange looking water neck [T/Stat Housing] with a flat spot that could be machined for an opening to mount a temp probe, which I think Old51Sedan is looking for.

Thanks guys, I'm new to these trucks and to inline 6's in general. Old yellow was the previous owners hay picker upper/ farm truck. The paint job on it is one of the worst DIY jobs I have ever seen, lol.
