The knob on the lower control the radio speakers to the camper. He had another knob on the other side of the radio that controled a fan. He ran a duct from the floor to the camper to allow heat or air from the cab to the camper to try and keep the kid confortable. I'll have to see if I can get some factory pulgs for them since I took the camper off.

If you’re looking to remove the switch and replace the factory plug, I still have the originals from my truck. One was drilled decades ago for an indicator light, but the other is untouched. If you want one or both shoot me a PM with your address and I’ll send them to you as a donation to the project.

Thanks

Bill

Hey Bill, I found a local upholstery shop (SMS auto fabrics) that has in stock not only our headliner material, but the original seat pattern as well. Just thought I'd let you know. It is pricey stuff though, I think the headliner was the cheapest at $49 a rolling yard. Check them out.

Any more progress?

I have a 62 panel with a spotlight in the same exact locations as yours. Was that factory?

Kinda stalled again. Since it is at a friends house/shop until the paint is done, it sits there. The hood and roof is painted, just need the sides and rear completed. He said around April 1st....why does that date make me nervous...?

Thanks for the lead on the headliner. The seats are really going to put a hit on the wallet.

As far as the spot light....good question...I will call my dad in the morning and ask him if it was installed when purchased, or if he installed it.

Sorry it took so long to respond. I asked my Dad and he said he installed it on the roof after he moved us to Arizona in 1960. Said it was too damn dark in the desert.

:frog: Well it's been a while...long ..long while. Back to work on the beast. :metal: Have the windshield scheduled for installation Thursday morning. Hope to make that deadline.

Decided to finish the grill and head light section tonight. Wife's out of town so the living room is fair game as a quasi-garage. :gi:

I've been waiting too ! Unfortunately, on a scale of 1 to 10 it falls into the priority category of 12. Once I get it back from my friends place I can work on it more.

Between work, time and money, it seems that the 3 haven't matched up. Hopefully it will be finished with paint within the next month. The windshield was supposed to happen last Thursday, but due to an unexpected trip by the painter..the area around the windshield wasn't done and the glass couldn't go in. Now scheduled for Tuesday or Wednesday. :waah:

Sometimes...although missed schedules or deadlines tend to be depressing. That beast was supposed to be painted last year... deadlines come..deadlines go... :waah:

Slowly coming along. finished the metal work and body work on the rear cargo door. Final prime and sand around the windshield then painted. Same with the inside. Inside doors sanded and light ding removal, ready for interior paint. Need to shoot around windshield and the doors and get the new windshield installed. It's going slow....but it's progress.

ah....You expect to stay on a schedule,. I've been at this phase for going on two years, and 8 before that.

One thing I've learned (LAFCF) Life and family come first.

Your progress is at warp 2, don't complain.

Re: 1960 GMC Suburban

My schedule wasn't an 8 year plan..but started in 2004 and with several 1-2 year stalls it has been slow. When I see work being done, and another milestone past I get excited, then look at what is left and get overwhelmed.

But, it is getting close to coming home. That is exciting ! Once it is home things will get done faster. Thanks for the verbal support. Anybody want to be a ca$h support ?

Moving along in the paint department. Got some of the interior shot, and the rest sanded, ready for primer. Last piece of metal installed under the driver's door, unfortunately a poorly timed rain storm caused a little surface rust..no big deal.
