Oops, thought I saw in another post that you were using SPI... My bad. Either way, it looks good!

Im using SPI universal clear coat on the other truck I'm working on, and I also used the universal clear on the truck before that. On this truck I'm using up products that I have left over from previous projects. The grey is 2 diffrent pewter colors, charcoal grey, and black all mixed together. The spi clear is hard to beat, I haven't tried there single stage black, but it gets rave reviews.

OK, so I'm not quite crazy. ;) I have been following SPI for a decade, and been using their epoxy. This summer I will be painting my Dad's car with single stage black. My 57 pickup will get black base / universal clear. (the reason I asked..)

Thank you Ilkka! I had some time to play in the shop, and started working on the front end. I got the hood sanded down, and started filling a bunch of little low spots. The left fender was a little rusty under the wheel well trim, it was a nice fender otherwise, so I bent up a patch, and a little time with the shrinker and stretcher, I had a good enough section to weld in, after I cut the bad spot out. It isn't 100% perfect, but it's solid, and the trim will cover it up anyway. :metal:

That's the next thing I gotta get, a shrinker/stretcher. What brand is yours, and do you like it?

I bought my set from eastwood on sale. They work great for the small parts I have used them for. I have a blast using them.

I shot some paint on the fenders, hood, and other front end parts this morning. I kinda rushed through the final blocking, and it shows with some low spots on the hood, and a small ding in one of the fenders. The finished product will be nice enough to roll with though.:metal:

Yeah, this is not what I would call a "dirt cheap refresh." Although, maybe if I had these kinds of skills it might be :). Nice work!!!

I got the vent windows rebuilt and installed, door glass installed, and installed new carpet, and a new headliner, and have installed most of the stuff I have sitting around the shop that I can. I still have to dye the door panels, and the interior will be done for now. I just about have it weather-proof, so it can sit outside while I get the box done. I also have the box for Mikes (Dads79gmc) 78 here now, so the 85 will go on the back burner while I get that knocked out for him.:metal:

I have been slowly plugging away at this truck. I painted up some 7" rallys, and got some tires mounted up on them. I also got a round of body work done on the left bedside. Door panels are re-dyed and installed.

Next to last picture, the hose from the air cleaner, a few questions:
  1. Where did you get it
  2. Where / what does it connect to?
  3. Did you sand blast and repaint the air cleaner. I bought the correct year air cleaner from a guy on this forum, it needs to sandblasted(?) and repainted. What paint did you use?

Thanks, Pat (female)

The tube from the air cleaner is called a fresh air duct I believe. I ordered it from lmc, and there is a round plastic fitting that sticks through the core support that the tube slips on to. I did sand blast the air cleaner, and primered it with grey rustolieum primer, and painted it with satin black rustolieum.
