Just found out the rear axles have bad bearing surfaces after all that work not sure what way to go. I have 5 lug front and now have to buy new axles or rear end. Any suggestions?

Set of new axles and bearings will probably run about $300. Could always see what a local shop would charge to rebuild the whole thing and they might have a used set of good axles that will fit. I would probably work with what I had versus buying another rear end and finding the same problems.

If I lived in the US that would be the price but here in Canada its closer to 500- 600. Everything is twice what you guys pay. I going to try some other shops but it looks like new ones. I don't have a lot of money to spend being on disability.

Just checked ECE and without delivery I'm up $515.00 with tax and exchange rate. Canada sucks for performance parts.

That really sucks didn't figure cost to Canada. Well it might be best to take a chance and purchase another used rear.

Moser has very good prices on 5x5 conversion axles for the narrow 1965-69 rear end, $260 USD.

Metaldoc with your fabrication skills you could make a killing in the custom car scene you should offer up your services locally and make some money off of your talent.

Thanks man, I suffer from migraines daily, up to 8 a day and no one will hire an unreliable guy. I build my own for therapy but I'm always building something for friends . Just imagine if I had real tools what I could build.

de rusted the top and back so it's ready for flat/satin mix clear coat. The inside is in primer now and ready for paint, floor is getting stone guard sprayed on it both sides. I'll finish the cab corners and rockers once mounted on the frame. I had a few spots to clean up after metal work was done on the fire wall. It's coming out looking nice.

See what you do is you say, "I take my time and it gets done when it gets done but it will be right when you get it back" and since you have less overhead than a shop you can charge less and do one car or truck at a time and guys can be on a waiting list to get their ride worked on, you can make it work.

Nice job on the metal work! Another 1 SAVED to be back on the streets! I had alot of metal work on mine as well. Keep up the good work.:chevy:

I'd say ya had some sheet metal repair and I'm just about ready to start reassembly. I had the ability to save it which helps. Thanks and the same on your build.

My waiting list already has a 1971 chevelle (wife, 1951 chevy coupe (oldest daughter and chevy HHR modified to her liking for the other daughter. Could be why I get the headaches living with three women

inside floor done with stone guard, just the right texture and great sound deadener.

Found out my fire alarm expired 2009 I guess I could replace it. Did some work on the cab corners and being the only body work on the outside it didn't need to be on the frame. It was so much easy this way too. I also finished the body prep on the kick panels. Some blue, clear, and black paint should be just like 1967 on the inside and now on the out side. Oh and that's Lola my watch dog, she came to inspect again.

seam sealer done on the drip edge. looks easy and not too bad with thinner instead of spit on my finger. Then washed it with a brush and thinners to smooth out. Brushing it made it blend better.

It seems I'm done seaming after three tubes of seam sealer. Had left over white from drip guard and used it too. Now bed spray under the floor to sound deadened it and make it impervious to the rain and road crap.
