I am sure Clint will chime in on this as well... but my personal opinion on why they would set it up this way is for packaging purposes. By using a link that bolts to the outside of the rear frame-rails and houses the bag and shock combo, it makes all sorts of room for exhaust routing around the axle housing. It also gives a much cleaner look... less cluttered.

yeah thats true but what about gas tank placement since most people mount between the rails...

The tanks/compressors will fit in a number of different locations... leaving room for a rear mount fuel cell between the rails.

What's ballpark pricing for the kit going to look like?

Re: kp components weld in step notch

The other bolt-on 6-links they offer are around $1300. I would ballpark it there. You gonna put yours on the ground, Asa? Or do you have another project brewing?

Re: kp components weld in step notch

My lil brother just bought enough parts to slap a truck together. He found a swb frame and a lwb body. So far he has less than $500 in it. It's going to be on the ground! Plans are looking like a porterbuilt front end and possibly this 6 link for the back. I may also have a deal coming together after 10 years of hounding an owner on another swb truck. If I manage to bring it home, I'm going to wait and see how his rides and drives and possibly mirror his suspension plans.

Sweet! I'd like to that one come together...

Re: kp components weld in step notch

Well my 10 years of hounding has yet to pay off:(! I guess I'm just going to be helping my lil bro on his project. I suppose if I really like how his turns out I could find me another one to lay out.

Got a quick question, I've got a Gmc that has leaf springs not trailing arms with coils, will this kit still be bolt on? Not that I'm scared of fabbing just want to be prepared.

Thanks, Albie

Hey Will their bolt on 4-link kit and watts link. Still fit a 67 chevy C-10, SWB?
It says online for 73 and up... but is there much difference in the frames from 67 to 73....
Thanks!

The framerails are the exactly the same. You should have no trouble there. You will likely have to source a trailing arm axle housing or weld on trailing arm perches to your axle.

Huge diffence in the frames. I would wait a little while for the application specific piece or plan on doing some fab to make it work.

Here are some images of a 69 C10 that I built for a customer when I had my old shop. This truck is laid out on 22" wheels and uses KP Components brackets all the way around. Here is how our rear 60-72 Step Notch kit looks installed. You can see how the notch is designed to match the contour of the factory frame rails. It also has our Under the Bed floor kit installed off the front of the axle tube to locate the airbags. I went ahead and relocated the shocks off the back of the rearend, and had to shorten the pan hard bar as well.
If you have any questions about the truck, or parts used, please feel free to post them here. Or you can PM me and I will get the information over to you.

Clint on this picture are they using your rear shock universal brackets and are they welded to the top of the notch and then to the bottom of the axle? I want to use a notch and I am trying to figure out shock location and bag location and i plan to use the stock trailing arms for now. Let me know if I am right and if you have any better pictures that would help. Thanks

I Dont Think So If Youlook At The First And Second Pic You Can See There Is A Small Notch And The Bolt Sticking Out From The Oem Mounting Point... I Hope That Made Sence...

Here is a little better shot. You can see there is a weld-on lower mount on the bottom of the axle tube.
