This is one of those trucks that is, first of all, sick. Cab looks too tall though. If you took MAYBE 2" off it would look more proportionate and even more sick. Doesn't have to be a radical chop at all. Just to have the cab follow the stance of the rest of the truck.

ABSOLUTELY NAILED IT AND PROVED MY POINT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hopefully the owner won't see this post. lol That seriously looks perfect to me!

Like Chip Foose likes......subtle and you would have to look at an original one to go "that looks much better".

Well, I was pondering this chop thread for a while....Like, how everyone gets to do whatever feels good with his or her truck...

That brought me to think about the fact that some folks do a lot to a truck in order to get "maximum use" for their own application;

Which made me think about what tall guys or clowns might need on a top-height variation;

Which made me think about what a tall truck might be used for......Like, if a guy needs a new hobby and his old ride is being used by someone else.

I'm just sayin'.

This is a long, old post but I will show you my 68 chop top. I did this in 2003 and have driven it daily since. I am 6'1'' tall and 210 lbs. and my truck is very comfortable. Chopping a top is only a small bit of all the work that goes into a chop top. The seat has to be lowered and the steering wheel column has to be lowered and shortened. I tilted my A pillars back and dropped the roof to match. I use original front and rear glass. The wing windows were deleted and the side glass was custom cut to match. I think when you lower the truck (which is a horizontal plane) you have to lower the cab to match. I think it looks like Mr. Potato Head if you lower the truck and not chop the top. My opinion and I think you can lower it toooo much. I am not a fan of the gangster, sinister radical chop top.

Mine is a chop in progress. Its about 3/4". The point was to lower the front of the roof. It will have flush mount glass and drip rails shaved. It still uses stock windshield and back glass.

Not a fan of chopped trucks at all but lowered rigs usually look pretty good.

Still working on mine. I only chopped 3/4 inch but that was just to fix proportions from the long bed to short bed unibody conversion. I actually took 15 inches out of the bed instead of the normal 12. I normally don't like them chopped, but its about proportion. A stock body truck cut 4 inches looks kinda odd.

Works pretty well for a suburban. But I think the pickup cab is too small to do it justice.
My apologies to the owner for photoshopping your great looking truck.

I agree, by the time you can tell it's been chopped, it's too much. I like a slight shave for proportion sake.
