I just spent a grip on the ignition system. a pro billet msd,msd digital 7 plus , hv2 coil, and moroso ultra 40 wires. as soon as it arrives, i will plumb up the magnastar 500 fuel system and wire the ignition up. I think i should be making noise around the 18th on may and we post a video on here for you guyz to enjoy. thanks all

Hey AK;
Where are you going to mount the digital 7 box? Ive got the same unit and found a thread on the pro-touring site where they mount it inside the glove box. They use a glove box liner made out of sheet aluminum thats open on both ends for ventilation... thinking that direction for my Jimmy.
Also, have you decided on aluminum tubing or braided line to run from your fuel pump to your pressure regulator and from regulator (return bypass) to tank?
thnx, Tom

Re: Prostreet / Dragrace 1972 blazer

Im going to make a removable mounting plate up under dash, since i have nothing behind it. My pump has a bypass in the pump fixture next to the outlet, and I will be running parker 301LT #10 black hydraulic hose up to the regulator in the engine bay. I also fabricated a 37 gallon aluminum cell and will mount it in the rear of tub behind the cage on the floor. My math says this should give me a 190 mile range. I plan on driving the 45 miles to the track, racing, and driving home !!! lol at least thats the plan

Re: Prostreet / Dragrace 1972 blazer

Have you checked with the tech guys to see if they will let you run that fuel cell on the inside of your truck? Just a thought.

AKoldstyle 05-13-2010 10:37 PM

Re: Prostreet / Dragrace 1972 blazer

I dont think you have noticed that everything on this truck has been thought out and built to meet the regs. We have an IHRA track and it says that the cell must have a roll over valve and be vented outside of the vehicle. the rear mounted battery is the same way, vented outside and in a sealed box. So whats up with yours ? got any pics or threads going

VERY NICE Blazer! Amazing transformation that you have made with it.

Tom Vogel 05-14-2010 10:05 AM

Re: Prostreet / Dragrace 1972 blazer

All the tracks here are NHRA... Ive always thought of IHRA as an east coast thing. Anyway, I can see your truck is well thought out.
As for mine... no threads or pics really. I took hundreds during disasymbly out of neccesity. Now that Im reassymbling I just dont seem to have time. Im self employed which means I work long hours. So... when I get some guilt free time to work on the truck... thats all Im thinking about. I dont mean to be selfish, but I just want to hear this thing make noise again for a change. Im busy with all the tedious stuff anyway and I think probably nobody would find wiring and plumbing all that interesting anyway. I think I spend more time staring at it and thinking rather than wrenching:lol:. That would explain why its taking me so long.
I have been going to the digs since 1965 when I was in the 5th grade... so mine is geared that direction. However, its mainly a street vehicle, not a race car. Yours obviously is mainly a digs car... right?
It sure would be great to see them side by side though, because its funny how close our thinking is really. Mines a stick car though... Ive always liked rowing my own.

Re: Prostreet / Dragrace 1972 blazer

I work 4 weeks on and then have 2 weeks off and thats the only way ive been able 2 work so much on it over the last year and a half. I do plan on driving mine a fair amount, but yes racing is a primary goal. It will burn pump gas,no trans brake,3.90 gears and 3200 stall. I will be plumbing and wiring mine starting tuesday and cant wait to hear it roar !!!! I agree it would be cool 2 line them up together. I do like seeing clean wiring and plumbing thats well thought out.
