Thanks,
He drove it yesterday after we picked up a radiator from board member. (Thanks John!).
He loves the truck and we are going to be starting body work on it soon.

Thanks! no problem, I would be glad to assist if I can, if you can find a donor that is still in tact it makes easier in my opinion. It is a pretty straight forward swap.

We hope to move on to body work pretty quick on this.

Thanks! We are getting ready to start pouring some cash into it. we replaced the hood and fender (Thanks Joe231!) then started on the body work. We got the drivers side done and moved on to the tailgate. Next we'll do the pass. side bed and keep moving around the truck. We are also looking to buy some new wheels and tires. Here are some pics:

Yes, I have been working on it a little here and there. Trying to prep for paint (pics below) It's slow going but progress is progress.

Not sure what wheels we are going to run, we have been trying to find a good deal on some used low miles...but that's not working. He likes the torq thrust, coys, boss and on and on. It's just a matter of scraping up the cash and pulling the trigger. Not too big of a hurry until we get the new shine on.

Very nice work Mike - I can do engines and electronics, but body work was never my forte.

Thanks RF! I don't claim to be an expert by any stretch, just hope to get it presentable enough that it doesn't look like crap. Hope the kid (who is helping sanding) is proud to drive it to school.

Looks good. You should come do mine next. I have the same problem as rf. I have 0 patience for body work. My biggest problem is trying to get things absolutely perfect and they never will be.

Yep Cableguy, at some point you just have to realize close is good enough for a daily driver. Now, if it for show well you'll just have to get someone else.
I really prefer to just change the panel with a new one or a nice used one rather than do body work. You can't always do that so here we are beating out dents and floating mud. Hope to get back on it today or tomorrow.

Mike

I think, without a doubt, he will be proud to drive it - teaching a young man to be proud of his effort and hard work is a rare find now days. I maybe out of line, and bit old fashion by saying that one must learn to be proud of his efforts as we live in instant gratification society where money makes the difference. Well, surprise, it does not - as hard work still counts.

As for body work - I think I will try my hand at it on my next project. More tools and supplies (hopefully, XYL does not mind). Keep us updated - love to see your progress photos.
