Re: Bartmans AD-S10 Chassis Swap
Not really bump worthy, but my original how to vid was really long and repetetive. Cut it in half.
I know I'm a DORK but I thought this may help some youngster that is just starting out and might entertain some of you at the same time. |
Re: Bartmans AD-S10 Chassis Swap
Hey dude sorry I missed your first post, I am buried in back to school.i'll
check out the video soon as I get a chance, funny how some guys think rebuilding carbs and packing wheel bearings is a thing of the past , they don't own old trucks huh.? Might have to show it in class in a couple weeks. Posted via Mobile Device |

Since I have been off work and layed up with my foot in a cast I thought I'd mess with some visualization tools for selecting wheels for my truck even though thats quite a ways down the road for me.
Found this website that has a very easy to use interface. Use their "Visualization tool. It only shows a half ton pickup for 1951 but it will do. You can adjust your ride height wheel manufacturers, styles, and diameters. http://www.bigotires.com/Wheel-Visualizer OOPS how did that last one get in there????? well I guess I did have them saved in my wish list folder |
Re: Bartmans AD-S10 Chassis Swap
If you are still looking for builds that used the stock S10 tank on the left side and ran duals on the right, check my 48 build in my sig. I made my own 2.5" crossover, then single pipe to a 1 in/2 out fully welded muffler. Sounds really sweet, and no on can tell it isn't true duals!

I was originally wanting to incorporate some exhaust tips into the running boards, but thats not possible with the side tank. Running them like you said and turning them out behind the rear wheels or strait out the back is going to be just fine. Your build is awsome great work and lots of stuff I can use on my build. Keep up the good work |
Re: Bartmans AD-S10 Chassis Swap

Re: Bartmans AD-S10 Chassis Swap
you did a great summary video. I'm sure it cleared alot of things up for some newbs. Def some things that could be added, like making sure bed is level, running boards level, front sheet metal leveling and the effects on the hood latching it will have etc, the list can go on. But as far as the basic mounts, how they are made, look and line up, you did a great job. People shouldn't need a play by play on everything all the time, its good to make them exercise their brain a bit and do some things for themselves. You simplified it well.

Re: Bartmans AD-S10 Chassis Swap
Thanks 99tolife. You are right. This was just a simple over view and I know there will be a lot of tweaking to get it right. As a matter of fact When I get the sheet metal ready to go on I will probably be the one scratching my head and asking questions since this is my first Build.

Re: Bartmans AD-S10 Chassis Swap
You'll be fine, there are alot of factors that come up and are gonna be different from others builds. Most troublesome area is the radiator for people. also front sheet metal alignment and what to do with the inner fenders. As long as you got your fenders in the wheelwells, your most of the way there. Another issue is how high or what mounts people use for their engine, that effects obviously some trans and floor tunneling and pinion angle adjustments. The 4" total off frame is the most common number, seen a guy bagged being 6.5" off frame so there are def variable still out there. I like the variables because it doesn't make it all cookie cutter and everyone would have zero problems doing a swap and have all the same specs.

Re: Bartmans AD-S10 Chassis Swap
Sorry no progress to report. Finally getting back to normal after my surgery, but still recovering financially from 3 months of diminished income during the surgery.
In my down time I've been learning to use Gimp, which is a free version of a Photoshop program. Here are a few samples of what I've done in the last few day. http://s668.photobucket.com/user/av8...ide-1.png.html New shoes http://s668.photobucket.com/user/av8...oop-1.png.html http://s668.photobucket.com/user/av8...n22-1.png.html Shoes fixed somewhat. http://s668.photobucket.com/user/av8...exavo.jpg.html Door Art Idea http://s668.photobucket.com/user/av8...aco-1.png.html http://s668.photobucket.com/user/av8...co333.png.html http://s668.photobucket.com/user/av8...tlogo.jpg.html Hopefully I can get back out to the garage soon and have some updates |

Sorry for the previous post with links instead of images. Hope this is better.

I had a 54 Buick a long time ago and I love the portholes. Seriously thinking about doing this on the sides or top of the hood. But not the stupid plastic ones you can get at Auto Moan. http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/v...portside-1.png Some Ideas I had on door art. http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/v...n222coop-1.png http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/v...o/Texaco-1.png http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/v.../Texaco333.png YouTube has become kind of a social media for me during recovery from surgery. I've found a lot of people there doing projects like our and posting videos of the progress. Most of them have channel stickers that they trade around. Here is an example of one I designed but have not had them printed up yet. http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/v...Latestlogo.jpg If posting this last pic or mentioning you tube in this context violates any guidelines I apologize in advance and feel free to remove this post. I'm not selling any thing so thought this would be appropriate in this context. Thanks |
Re: Bartmans AD-S10 Chassis Swap
I really like the Texaco sign.

Re: Bartmans AD-S10 Chassis Swap
Last weekend I did a little more on my radiator support. I bought a 65 mustang radiator (I think a 67 may have been a better choice as it is a couple of inches wider) I'm going to have to kick it out at the bottom a couple inches so I still need to make some brackets. I was out of gas for the welder.
