Not looking forward to doing the body work. It's real tempting to finish putting it together now and start driving it again but I know if I do it will never get painted.

It Looks Great! Put it together and Drive it...:metal: At least for the spring/summer season...

The paint on the truck now is the original blue and white color for 66. I will be painting it a blue-turquoise color. The same color I put on the frame. Don't know the paint #, just a color I picked out of a book at the paint store.

Are those pics all the way aired out?

Where did you get your driveshaft from and about how much did it cost. I have the same setup and will need a driveshaft soon.

I am really digging the look... excited to keep working on mine now.

Those pics are all the way aired out. The frame is on the ground. I had a 2 piece drive shaft from a 90's chevy truck that I had a local shop modify for me. Had to put a longer tube on the front and shorten the rear shaft. Cost $260.

Looks killer "temporarily" back together. :D

Could load it up on the trailer and bring it to Magic Dragon in two weeks... I'm just sayin'. http://www.magicdragonstreetmeet.com/

Haven't posted in a while, too busy mowing 3 acres and going to grand kids baseball games. I got a few things done. I had my exhaust system made while I still had the sheet metal on. It was a pretty tight fit but I managed to snake it out the back above the bumper. Got my drive shaft, power steering pump and radiator painted. Hooked up my power steering pump and it works great.

Man, this build is awesome. How does that exhaust look with the body on? I've never seen one like that.

That looks good. What did you coat the exhaust with?

66ZZ4 06-08-2011 06:39 PM

Re: Mike's 66 swb dropmember build

Aggie, the exhaust is painted with some rustoleum 2000 deg. high temp paint. I used some 12" cherry bomb glass packs. It has a nice rappy sound, good and loud, just the way I like it.

Looks very nice attention to detail is great but I was looking at your power steering pump mount and it looks to me as if you have used an old style alternator adjustment strut. Don’t get me wrong to mount looks good but I can’t see how the lower end is mounted and looks like the pump may have a tendency to twist under the tension of the belt. You may want to check it out and insure that there is no flex here. Keep in mine that even a slight amount of flex in belt driven accessory mounts usually leads to fatigue cracking and mount failure down the road.

This is a great build always excited to see the progress you have made.

Re: Mike's 66 swb dropmember build

Thanks Pop's for the suggestion on the air cleaner. The power steering pump adjustment arm is from CPP. I used an original bottom bracket that I cut and welded back together to get it to line up. It seems pretty solid.
