I gotta say.....that's my new all-time favorite " paintina "....real or implied.

It reminds me of a time.....way back in the mid-nineties...........I was working a shutdown at Potlatch Paper in Lewiston....an' the local paper ran a front pager on the " Timeless Treasure " that was uncovered by some local contractors as they were peeling 'facades' off of an original storefront during a substantial remodel on a downtown commercial building.
They had uncovered one layer from the turn of the century revealing a very cool previous storefront......can't remember the details to well.....but they were so pleased with their discovery....they were even entertaining the thought of preserving it.....Kind of a " Time Capsule "....of sorts.

That " Flame Job " is the neatest thing I've seen yet.....Nice job realizing early that you needed to save it......an' nice job saving it.
You all watch.....C10hevy's on the cuttin' edge....
Folks will try to be duplicatin' that one...

Love the paint guys, thinking of going this route with my '64 Step. BUT, can you guys tell me what kind of wheels are on Chizzler's truck? The black smooth ones not the dodge 20s.

Those are real beauties....No $hit.

I had a '55 Bel Air 4dr (my first car) with OE Everything.....Wonder-Bar radio....235...2 sp P-Glide....an' when it got a lil' damp....(6 months of the year)....it even smelled a bit like wet horse-hair....(on account 'a they were still tryin' to make foam rubber work for under the seat covers).

Nice bunch of rides you have there.

While half the pics in this thread are real patina, the fauxtina ones look great as well.

Heres my 64 short fleet. My 15yr old son is handling this paintjob. So heres a crappy pic sneak peek....;)

Right now I can't afford a new paint job and I could not just let my truck rust away. I didn't want to just have a primered truck. I wanted to shine it up for a show just like everyone else. So I repaired the rust spot and selected a few spray can colors and wet sanded the entire truck. Here is my so called master piece. I'm happy with the look for now.

I don't know if I'd consider this patina as much as just no paint on the hood and top, but I got some of it anyway.

I'm in love! The lowered stance, perfect tire/wheel combo, perfectly placed in those perfect wheel wells, the patina.....sigh.....
I dunno, maybe I'm a little :crazy:, well, that's a given, my wife thinks I'm more like :uhmk:, but that's OK. I love myself some stepsides!

I don't know if I can bring back any patina to mine, It's been thoroughly sanded, lacquer primed, then crappy painted, but I'm going to try to strip the brown off to get at the original red with the gray primer.

ok... this is just my opinion. but. the thing that makes real patina look real is the rust. no amount of under coats or sanding top coats or primer coats black or ruddy brown will really work without rust. in the high wear areas the rust helps the look and its gotta have stone chips and drill holes and small dents. you got to do some damage for the fauxtina to be right. sand that primer to metal in high wear spots and let a year of rust develop.
like i said... just my opinion.

its every bit as hard to get fauxtina right as it is to do a paint job.
