Re: 50 Chevy Trck Chassis
haven't looked at this tread in a while. Absolutely SICK. You need a clear plastic body...

Re: 50 Chevy Trck Chassis
Thanks for the compliments fellas! I think Renegade's color selection is spot on. Its unreal what a difference just painting those butterflies made. Looks good!

Hey Guys,
Fab1 and I moved the chassis up to the upper garage and put it on the lift to make room in the lower garage to start back to work on the cab with all the mods we are going to make to it. Check out the pics of the underside of the frame on the lift. Hope everyone has a safe and happy Memorial Day! Renegade |
Re: 50 Chevy Trck Chassis
thats pretty. MORE PICS. Never can see too many pics of a beautiful thing.
What did u use for an engine oil pan? Motor and trans mounts? Did you use any urethane isolators or is it solid? |
Re: 50 Chevy Trck Chassis
hotrod1, thanks for the compliments. We had a big time rolling that chassis to the upper garage without any type of brake. Like to thank my wife for the use of her Jeep while she was gone...lol. All five of the mounts are rubber to the best of my knowledge. I know the two I made for the transmission are a durable grade recommended by the machinest who gave the pucks to me. He uses it alot for similar situations as I understand. The other three (front motor and rear trans) are the black rubber that came with the kit. As for the oil pan, I want to say Renegade used a Moroso brand pan. I could be mistaking because as you all can tell Renegade likes to change his mind. Have a Great Memorial Day!

Re: 50 Chevy Trck Chassis
Hey guys! Sorry for the lapse in action. As I'm sure all of you know, summer time is rough on spare time. That combined with the fact that the UPS truck backed into the carport connected to the shop, Renegade's rebuild of said carport himself, sickness (sinus-vertigo junk) and clean-up of the shop for room to assemble the rotisserie and cab. I'm sure I can speak for both of us when I say we miss posting as much as you miss seeing. I can send some pics of Renegade wacking away at his roof, but that my friends is not eyecandy. Thanks for the interest and we hope to be back at it asap.

We've all had times when we had to stop on our project to take care of everyday things.:metal::mm: Just didn't want you to think we forgot about you;)...Jim

Re: 50 Chevy Trck Chassis
Almost a shame to put a body on it. I'd drive it as is.

Hey Guys,
Fab 1 and I are finally ready to start back on the truck. We got the cab mounted on the rotiserie so we can start the rest of the sheet metal mods, shaving the drip rails, building a custom console, building a custom cab visor, modifying the hood for a ram air effect, tilt front end on acuators, dump bed on acuators, installing the wheel tubs in the bed..............Thats all I can think of at the moment, as my brain is wore out. We hopefully will get some more pics posted on our progress as it proceeds. Take care, Renegade |
Re: 50 Chevy Trck Chassis
I learn something every time I look at this thread and hopefully it pushes me and a few others to raise our own bar just a few notches.
I'm liking what I see on the cab but speaking from experience (wet) I hope you at least but a bit of a lip above the doors in the roof to deflect any rain or water. I didn't and it soon became an issue when I got caught in rain storms. |
Re: 50 Chevy Trck Chassis
Thank you for the complement mr48chev.

We got a few things done this weekend with what limited time we had.
Cut out for the tubs, mocked up an acuator for raising the bed floor. We are still going to have a tilt bed also. Just gives me an option at the car shows between raising the floor or tilting the bed. Everytime I start working on this build, We keep thinking up ideas which takes up more time and money. This truck as of now is going to be a keeper and I want it trick. Things like these mods get peoples attention, and I like to be different to stand out from the usual. Thanks again to everyone for the kind words and comments. Renegade |
Re: 50 Chevy Trck Chassis
Renegade: Very nice. Your details are so clean! Your tilt box will also help when removing wheels/tires. Good luck going forward. I'm planning to make my box lift-able for tire removal.

Hey Guys,
The brown truck came by and dropped off some new goodies. I love when they bring things! Renegade |
Re: 50 Chevy Trck Chassis
I like all your progress on the truck. You have done some very nice work on your chassis and motor. I bet everything else will be just as nice. I am looking foward to seeing more of your pictures. :metal:

Re: 50 Chevy Trck Chassis
I'll be the happiest man alive if my build turns out half as amazing as yours is currently! Beautiful frame work!

Truck looks absolutely amazing, congrats!!!
Did you weld the tailgate closed? |
Re: 50 Chevy Trck Chassis

No we did not weld the tailgate. I wanted it to work. Maybe with an actuator....................? I need to stop thinking of things to do, maybe I would get it completed. Renegade |
