I have 4" springs and 2" blocks on my panel and its really close to scrub running 15 inch rims. I may have to grind down the U bolts a little bit.

I didn't know till after I bought mine, but the 2" block do drag/scrub if you have a flat. As you can see on mine, the shock bracket is right even with the rim. I currently have 255/70x15on the back of mine, but be fore it gets much street use I'll probably get some 17" rims.

Your truck looks great with the new stance.

Re: Project Sketchy Deal

Well I put Sketchy Deal on c.l. and I am getting mostly people wanting to trade.
In the mean time I have installed a new fuel pump and purchased a new sending unit. It appears that I will need to either have the gas tank hot tanked or buy a new one. I called a radiator shop in K.C. they wanted around $145 to clean and seal the old one. A new one at LMC is $150.
I like the truck but if it doesn't sell I am thinking about selling all the sheet metal with the flames and replacing with aftermarket stuff. Would like for the truck to be all black.
I have 69-72 NOS fender, but I would like to stay with the 67-68 grille. Decisions....

Well sorry to see you are selling it after all that trouble. Check around for a used tank, I sold a nice one for $20, hard to give those stock ones away.

I have a tank I believe to be good. Yours if you want it. Why take the flames off? That's Sketchy's soul! There's a guy in Lenexa that deals in these also. Why you want to sell?

I would definitely be interested in the tank.
Some days I love the truck and other days I think it draws too much attention to me. It sticks out, especially in a small town. Same with my 72. I have the only ochre 72 in town. The up side is that I can always find my trucks in a walmart parking lot. I sometimes think if the truck was all black it wouldn't stand out so much.
I will pm you my cell number.
Thanks.

Hey Low Elco, again I can't thank you enough for helping me out today. It's guys like you that make this board great. I had another errand to take care of on the way home...so I didn't install the tank yet but, it is going to work out really well. Got the fire back.:smoke: pun intended.

Re: Project Sketchy Deal

Tank and sending unit is officially in the truck. Gas gauge is inoperable. Guess what is on the list of replacement. Had the smaller tube lines and s.u. for a two barrel carb. is my guess. I have a two wix fuel filters, one before the fuel pump and one after. I'm not sure if it is the cause of the slight hesitation when I excellorate..but it lags a bit. The truck does run a lot better now although it could be better.

Check your grounds- if you have a multimeter, the sender is easy to check. Just set it on ohms and cycle.

I told a board member a while back if I sold the NOS fenders I would let him know. I can't remember his name... He is from Ohio, I think. I'm still on the fence about selling them. I will keep Bill in mind.

Wow, sorry to see the truck go, if it goes. I'd keep the flames too! It's only drawing attention if you're doing some thing you shouldn't be.

Love the look and flames. If I had heard you talking more about getting rid of the flames, I may have had to run up your way when I was in Wichita last week.

Hello WIDESIDE72,

I have seen the term 68 1/2 several times while reading post on here and I am not sure about it. I thought I knew a ton about these trucks and will admit I am not a huhe slant fan. Can you explain what is different about a 68 1/2 than a 68? Just curious. Is it just the marker lights? I have seen them with no fronts and just assumed the owner put 67 fenders on a 68 truck.

Thank you

Lol..I never thought of like that. I love the flames one minute and think they say look at me other times. I'm no trying to fly below the radar but feel like the truck sticks out like a sore thumb. That can be good in a parking lot.

Thanks for the kind words. I seen you were going to be up this way... I just don't know any thing about Wichita to give you ideas on things to do there...so I remained silent.
