Thanks for all the compliments guys... Ya... I've been tearin at projects for over 20 years now. Wish I had kept most of them. (First was a '72 olds 442) Nothing to this level yet though... Losing my mind with age I think. Thanks again.

Quick update... pics dont do justice for time involved. Final touch up grinding of grill assembly, minor bodywork and black paint to follow. Removed stock hood release handle, and fabbed up a cable type release. Cable attatched to bar welded to rear side of release bracket. Cable is located up behind rollpan via cable guides made from steel tubing. Wanted a little more of this roll pan than just the recess I welded in... came up with this. Knocked 6 holes in face of rollpan, and welded in some 3" pipe... trimmed welds with a flap wheel on a grinder. Up in the air whether lights will go in the holes yet. Final welding and bodywork to follow. Going to work the brackets yet to get the pan tighter to the grille assembly.... and clean shop again.

Thanks! Bumper and grille are ready for bodywork... ditched the bumper bolts, and back welded some. (hidden) Reworked brackets to get closer to grille. Trying to find some lights for the holes... dont want anything too bright.(More for accent than anything else) Will update once in primer. Thanks again.

Some more updates.. chose to hide the bumper bolts on the front pan. Welded in place and ground out flush. Fabbed up a removeable front license plate holder out of 1" angle. Back welded some nuts in place. Some welding and clean up in the recessed area of the front pan

I decided to go with lights in the pan.. debated halo LED's After pricing decided to go with these.. License plate lights. Tacked into large washers.. welded on backside of pipes. Dragged the pan with filler, hit with board sander and sprayed with hi-builds primer.

The pigtails for the lights are removeable from the backside for bulb replacement. Back of pan was sprayed black, as were grilles and brackets, etc. Made a harness for the lights and gave them a test fire. Assembly should be tomorrow. Feel like I'm going backwards sometimes.. Then onto the box

I'd say it's more of a pierce of cake rather than a nitemare. You do excellent work. I'm in awe and would love to have a quarter of your skills.

The grille is amazing.

Can you show more pics of the gas tank? I'm wanting to relocate mine to under the bed, but don't want to have to cut the bed floor (steel) to have to fill up the tank. Did you have to cut any crossmembers? Are you installing a filler location in the side of the bed?

Thanks Mike.. I didnt/wont have to cut any cross members. I plan on running my filler up inside one of the bedside pillars.. and have a piece of the pillar swing open on a springed hinge. I'll get you some more pics.. Thanks again.

These are for you Mike.. the rear frame crossmember was removed, and the rear tank bracket acts in its place. If you look earlier in my build thread you'll see the cross bracets, straps and T-bolts that were fabbed up. I also explain the tank and proper sending unit to use (proper resistance) so it will function with my factory guage. One end of the straps I made (18G steel) are bolted into threaded holes into the heavy wall bracket.. The other end of the straps have the T-bolt, and go through the bracket with a lock nut. Facilitates dropping the tank from the bottom side this way. Tank height can be raised or lowered via spacers if desired. If I want it higher.. I can insert brackets inside the frame rails and space accordingly.

Yes they have covers. The white dome lenses were epoxied on. They're in in the pic with the lights powered up. (My thread found its home)

thats too bad, i wanted to start going but it seems my generation (23years old) isnt really interested in building or working on cars. although there isnt much of a scene for racing or showing off your ride besides sundays and drag strip.

Started stripping paint of the box sides... Encountered about a half inch of glass/filler. Previous tail end repair was brazed together. Lot of warping. Looks like I'll be slicing a piece of the parts truck.
