I have the same problem. You can only pull it in so far before the mirror edge hits the neck.

Oh great, I just paid $80 for a pair of these for my '72. Still new in the box and I do still have the receipt. Should I be considering a return?

To all of you guys that posted pics...thanks ! To me the short wheelbase stepside is the best lookin' truck on the planet. I am in the middle of building my 72 C-10 & can't wait to use some of the ideas I have seen on this thread.

SID thank You: Yeah I like the way my stepside Turning out I went 4" drop in the front and 4" in the rear, I also made adaptuers and we are in production of making more for old style hub caps, as for the mirrors each truck is different the seats and where you mount the mirrors could make all the defferance. I have a question how do you think it would look if a painted the wheels Red. also I am looking for a Stock tailgate with Cherolet on it any one wanting to trade or I will buy . belwo are some Pic's of the right side mirrors I this they are mounted to far back 1/2 to an inch forward would help.

I'm just not feelin' the red rims. Maybe if there were more red on the truck to tie it in, it wouldn't be so bad. Painting those wheels anything other than the color they are now would scare the hell outta me. I know black rims have been done to death, but with your black paint, the stainless and/or chrome centers and bands, I think black would look great, but that's just my opinion.

dg, I meant to ask what size tires you're running? I'm guessing the rallys are 15x8, right?

Cool,...and I have only have a couple pics at the moment, but I'll get more up soon. 275/60s wrapped on 15x10 are the size I'm running myself with (what I assume) no drop by any previous owner. I'm thinking of a 2-3", but bed work is currently taking priority and a butt load of cash..lol

The p.o. went a little over board with the hugger, so I'll be working on bringing that grille back to life. I also found a killer deal on a '71 front bumper, but I'm digging the '69 grille. Decisions, decisions...

Thanks Will....I'm torn between the 15" wheel look and the 18"/20" wheel look.
I still think that touch of red hidden behind the beauty rims and caps would look good.

Bugz

Agree I'm going to try it if I like the red I'll the wheels Powdered coated, As for the wheel size I would like to stay with the era of the truck 15", that is why I refuse to go with fuel injection if i wanted a new Truck I would go buy one thats the fun of have this year truck. although it tough the new wheels are very nice.

lol,...Thanks dg, I just bought it last week, so I've not done much to it yet except to "attempt" to de-wreck-neck it. You wouldn't believe the wiring mess I've had to deal with. Anyway, a friend (much better mechanic than I) of mine has actually had her for a few days and hopefully I'll have a chance to start on the bed next week, and the suspension will soon follow,..I hope. I'll be sure to add some b4 and afters. :)

Sid...here's the before and after of my bed. I don't think it cam out to bad for a first timer. Bed wood and SS hardware from MAR-K? Really not that difficult.

Re: pictures of shortbox stepsides

:bann:Decided to save myself time and probably money going with a cleaner truck to start with...it had a frame off restoration within the last 10 years. I think I got a great deal on it at $9,900. I cant touch anything in that condition down here in South Florida for that price. Everything that is available down here is a rust bucket! Still has a freshly rebuilt straight 6 and 3 on the tree. That motor/tranny wont be in there much longer though.

The lady who sold it to me has owned it for 16 years. She says she has over $20k invested in it. Started as a regular paint job and then she noticed it had alot of hidden rust. So she bead blasted everything and changed everything, new cab, doors, bed, powder coated the frame and redid the interior. She tried to keep it as original as possible. She also added the aftermarket "OLD Air" system NEW and power steering. Comes with a boat load of parts also. She was crying on the phone because she doesnt want to part with the truck but she needs the money for her business. She says it has spent more time in the last 7 years covered and parked in her garage then anything else.

is that a 4.11 rear end that comes stock in the 68 with the inline 6? How difficult/expensive is it to change the gearing for a v8 ls motor?

Thanks for your input
