Sorry I missed this before posting pics. I would not call it stalled out but it has been slower than I had hopped. I have a full time job 80 miles away as well as a 8month old son that I pick up on my way home and my wife does not get home untill 6pm so my time has been limited. But I have some time off work right now so I hope to get my part all finished up in the next week or so.

Kevin, I actually made that post after reading page 2, without realizing there were 7 pages in the thread. Sorry about that, I know from reading your threads that you are very busy, I don't know how you have time to work on anything with your schedule. Keep up the awesome work!

Kevin, what did you do to the inside of the doors to account for the rust? Blast and then coat? I pulled my door skins and did that before re-skinning them. Just wondered what you did that might have been easier. Jeff.

Well I cut out all rust before the vehical was blasted. They did blast in side the door as much as they could then scrapped down inside as well. Then they epoxy coated everything. As I did the patch repairs I cleaned all areas that I could get to and coated them with rust encapsulator prior to any welding. Then once the patches were done and the doors were back up right I sprayed a heavy coat of encapsulator down in to the doors were the patching was done.

Is this perfect, No but it sure is alot better then factory and should last a real long time. I also sugest a few times a year that you check your drip holes in the bottom of the doors to make sure they are clear.

For todays progress I finished sectioning the pass side rocker and got it all installed and coated. I then replace the rocker box covers with new hardware and anti seize before puttin the fender brace's back inplace. I have one patch left to do to the pass door and it will be re-hung using the holes I drilled in the hinges.

Re: LFD's Project Traizer 2WD closed cab.

:metal: We are almost their! The body will meet the chassie for the first time in its new state in about 20min. Today I finished the pass door, spot welded part of the upper fire wall lip because the factory spot welds did not make contact. I installed a nut insert into the pass side upper fender mouint because the stock one was missing, installed the pedal asembly, sterring column, sterring box and cleaned the frame for the body drop:lol:
I also installed the tailgate hardware and gate to the new bed sides and had to slot some holes to get the gate to line up right. Once the gate was test fit I them welded the rear gate posts to the bed. My 68 tilt front end will be going on this blazer Monday and by Tuesday it should be ready to head out. This thing will be a body mans dream with it being all new and very straite almost ready for blocking and paint.

Sweet. Is that the shop across the street? Nice of them to let you use the lift. Maybe one of these days when I have a day off, I can meet you at your house after work and give you a hand.

Let me know when you start the air ride suspension work on the blazer. I would really like to help with that. I think I'm free on Monday March 31.

Yes that is the shop. Paul has given me free rain of the lift if his guys are not using it. We do alot of trade work back and forth so it really does work out nice. Plus all I had to do was roll a body down the street to his shop, walk home and roll a frame down the street and a few minutes later I was pushing a rolling blazer home. I really need to get a lift at my house but first is my frame table and rotissory so I can start my Blazer build.
I will let you know next weekend what my shedule is looking like;)

All complete and ready for teh trailer and delivery:metal: I was going back thru old pics of this blazer from the start and it was rough but now it has turned into a rust free solid vehical. I think it is going to be one sweet ride when it gets finished and it should make alot of people take a second look to figure out what was done because somthing to them just does not look right. These are the fun builds to do, were they look like somthing was done but you just are not really sure what. I know we all can tell but JOE public will have a hard time.

Thanks for following along for another LFD build.

Re: LFD's Project Traizer 2WD closed cab.

I would like to introduce myself. I'm Dan. I have had this project in the back of my head for sometime.Traizer! I started looking for a 2-wheel Blazer. I had read that John Fabris had a very rough version for sale that needed alot of work. There was a Pink and Vin tag which I felt was worth the asking price. I had read that Kevin was doing some work for other board members. I contacted Kevin . That was 1/06. It's at home now I will continue the work starting with the plumming of new brakes and fuel lines. I will let all that are interested in any progress of the build.

Well it's about time you take credit for the design:lol: I don't like being the only one twisted enough to come up with this stuff.
Also just so everyone knows this is an original 2wd Blazer:devil:

Re: LFD's Project Traizer 2WD closed cab.

Looking to replace/repair the sides of my 70 Blazer. I was wondering about those bed sides you put on. How would you judge the quality? I was also wondering how they sealed up the outer side from the inner side in the wheel well area? I know on the original it looked like there was metal bolted in there to keep the worst of the road stuff from attacking the inside. Where did you buy them from?

Thanks!

Frank

Re: LFD's Project Traizer 2WD closed cab.

Quality is good they are a bit thinner than stock but even stock you don't want to be beating on so it really is not a problem. As far as how they are made and finished from what I could tell they are 100% the same as originals. Al bolt holes, flanges and nut certs are their for all your stock parts to bolt to. I think he bouight them thru Stan at ECE.

Re: LFD's Project Traizer 2WD closed cab.

Damn fine work Kevin and you are one of the best fab guys I have seen:metal: I have been kicking around this idea also every since I got my blazer home. I first wanted a 1/2 cab and I bought one and sold it, I then wanted to splice a suburban top on mine but the wife doesn't like the idea. I thought about chopping on the factory top a little also but that is what I don't like about a blazer and would like to do without it. I really like what you did with this but how do you think it would look with a little chop and rake? I wouldn't want a lot of chop and just a small amount of rake also. I think a flush fit bed cover would look sweet too and maybe leave out the panel and have it open from the bed to the cab so I could have a decent sound system and have the bed in carpet and some custom side panels for the inner bedsides. I guess it would look kinda like the blue one pictured but not that dainty, too me that one has a little too much chop. I think maybe just a inch and a half or two would be just right. You are very helpful with your build threads by showing us your little tricks that make things so much easier and stronger, etc.
Thanks, Kade

Well I went back through and looked at the pick of the greenish one and I guess that answers my question about how it would look with a chop and bed cover.

It would look great with about a 1/2" rear and 1" front on the chop. You might think for that small amount why even bother but that is just the reason! That small amount would make people look at it and think it loked perfect, not stock but not chopped ether because who would chop a top so little so it must be somthing else that makes it look so good;)

Bed cover would be nice so you have storage and the mini truck idea about the sterio would be good as well. If I were to go in that direction I would do it like an Elcomino with sealed off storage and a truck that is sealed off from the inside but still leaving room for speacers and storage.

That is exactally what I was thinking on the chop, don't want it to stand out so much but make people scratch their heads. The main reason I would go for the bed cover is that trucks with step notches look like crap with the cover sticking up so high in the bed or that is what I think. My gas tank is going to have to come up thru the bed floor a little, the battery is going to be back there, etc. I was thinking about coming off the top of the notch to the tailgate with a cover to hide that stuff. I kind of see what your are saying about the storage compartment, that could be made with a none removeable lid and have a trunk more or less from about the rear wheels back with a cover that will open up to the gas tank and the other crap that will be back there. Humm

Another one of Kevin's crazy metal builds! I just don't see where you got all the energy to work full time and do builds like this on the side? I know this is an old thread but it's a great example of one of your projects. I assume these guys that contract pay very well:)
